TRIGGER WARNING ONE-SHOT;

She fell to her knees, a sob escaping her peached lips. Quiet blubbers of words we heard as she replayed in her mind what he had just said to her.

'You mean nothing to me.'

She couldn't believe it. Tears streamed from her eyes and onto her pale thighs, her hands in tight fists against her grey-colored skirt.

What had he meant that she meant nothing to her? Is that why Natsu had stopped invading her home and began to avoid her?

Lucy's life was colorless after that. Days had passed, and Lucy only lay under her pink comforter, staring blankly at the ceiling. Those same words he had said loud and clear to her still ringing in her ears vividly. Sometimes, those dark thoughts fogged her mind while she scratched at her arms and legs, craving to bleed but couldn't bring herself to press the blade against her fragile skin.

There's only a single answer to that.

It's because she was weak.

Is that why Natsu had abandoned her? Because she was weak and always needed someone to stand up for her when she was in trouble?

Well.. Lucy Heartfilia was going to prove she was not weak. Show that she is brave enough to do the inevitable.

However, Lucy had been terribly mistaken, as Natsu had only said and done the things he had, for a whole different reason.

He had wanted better for her. He wanted her to have the things most other girls didn't. He wanted to give her the world. But, there was a slight problem with that.

Himself. He had been the heartthrob of Fairytail High. Girls swooning over him every time he stepped foot inside or out of a classroom was not really his thing. Things didn't make it better if he had gotten a new girlfriend or a friend that was just a girl.

Instead of him himself receiving hate, she'd receive every little scrap of it.

Never did it end well.

Natsu had known Lucy for awhile now, and when they had first met, he felt an instand connection form between the two. But, Natsu had to keep her a secret. They never made eye-contact on campus, and they only hung out off campus.

Somewhere along the way, strong feelings had developed for her.

Saying the things he had to protect her, was probably the most hardest thing he had ever done in his lifetime.

And, something inside him snapped when he saw the most beautifully sculpted face, turn to a face of hurt. Pain. Agony. He spent hours and hours in his apartment, screaming out and punching walls.

He hated it.

But he had to do it.

He had to protect his Lucy.

However, Natsu was fully unaware of what Lucy was capable of.

Since Lucy had begun to get bullied because rumor spread about the two, Lucy has been fragile. Almost like a frail white flower. Though Natsu was too dense to even realize her depression because of the mask she had put on to hide it all, he had thought she was the same, happy Lucy Heartfilia he had met July 7th.

He was, yet again, terribly mistaken.

Even a white rose has a black shadow.

---

Natsu stood in front of a spruce colored casket, his eyes shadowed. Inside, was a familiar blonde in a black dress, laying peacefully within it's walls with a bundle of white, purple, blue, and red flowers. Her eyes were closed, and no movement was seen from the teen.

A tear dripped from Natsu's eye and landed on his scarf. "I'm sorry..." He whispered, walking closer to the casket and set his hand on the blonde's colorless forearm. "I'm so sorry, Lucy..."

"It's all my fault..." Natsu found himself stumbling backwards, a hand smacked to his face. Was this happening? Was this just another horrible nightmare, or was this reality?

"Hey.. You okay?" A hand was set on Natsu's shoulder, making Natsu blink and look up. "Gray.."

"Hey.. Let's go sit down and get you a glass of water--"

"Please tell me this isn't happening..." More tears spilled from Natsu's eyes. Gray looked slightly taken aback, before shaking his head lightly. "Natsu lets just go--"

He fucking lost it.

"Is it!? Is this all really happening, Gray!? Tell me!!" Natsu yelled, causing Gray to flinch and step back. "Natsu, calm down--" Before Gray could finish his sentence, Natsu had shoved him out of the way and ran out of the funeral home.

Tears pooling from his eyes, his breaths coming out in heavy pants, he ran down the streets of Magnolia. His legs burned, and his feet ached. His chest hurt and his head spun.

Natsu was losing it in the worst possible way ever.

Not caring if it was raining, he dropped to his knees, landing in a small puddle of mud-water. His hands dug into the wet pavement, his fingertips beginning to bleed. Tears escaped from his eyes like a cascade.

This wasn't a dream. This was a nightmare.

Lucy was gone, and Natsu just wasn't ready to accept that, "Lucy's... Gone..."

He looked up through blurry eyes, and stood up and begun to walk again. He hadn't even realized he had waltzed into the centre of the road.

He could've considered himself drunk.

"Lucy... Lucy..." He kept murmuring, is expression impassive. But that expression turned to utter confusion as he last saw bright flashing lights, and the honking of horns.

Natsu saw a car fast approaching him, it's honking made his ears almost bleed. But Natsu couldn't care anymore.

Lucy was gone, so what was the point?

She was his sunshine, and his sunshine was taken away. What was left of him? An empty body.

Natsu only stood and watched as the car approached, and smiled. His eyes drifted shut, and he rose his arms out into the air.

"Hold on, Lucy. I'm coming for you. Only because I love you, and you mean everything to me."

And at that moment, the car slammed into the pinkette, and all Natsu saw was white.

The white didn't last long, however, as it slowly faded into an eternal darkness.

note | I would just like to say that these one-shots are not meant to be taken lightly. I only write these kinds of one-shots to express my feelings and to kind of let those trapped thoughts free, and create it into short stories. I know, some of you would like more happy one-shots, and I'll try to write some, but.. I don't know.
