Unexpected

Chapter 3

Gray had stayed at Natsu's house that night, he didn't want to leave anyway, not when he got to see the dragon slayer once again and knowing he had a son made him want to stay longer as well, he was happy when Natsu said it was alright for him to stay even if he did have to sleep on the couch, it was better then going home.

The ice mage was the first to wake up, he walked to the kitchen to see if Natsu had anything to cook for breakfast, sadly he didn't. He decided to slip out and go to the market to pick up a few things, he knew that he would be back before Natsu woke up, but would he be back before Silver did?

Gray was halfway out the door before he heard a yawn. He turned around to see Silver walking towards him rubbing his eyes. "Papa, Where are you going?"

"I'm going to the market."

"Can I come too?" He looked up at Gray with puppy eyes.

Gray caved instantly. "Sure, you can help me too!" He smiled as he watched his child's face light up.

Silver grabbed a hold of Gray's hand and they both made there way to the market. "What do you like for breakfast?" Gray asked.

"I like pancakes!" Silver smiled.

Gray chuckled "Alright well let's get some stuff to make pancakes!"

The child cheered and Gray smiled. A few passerby's looked at the duo with curious looks as if wondering who the little boy walking with the Fairy Tail Guild master could be. Gray paid no mind to the curious looks he got, his only focus was on finding pancake ingredients and watching Silver. They walked around a but before getting everything, then they set on their way to head back to Natsu's house.

Once they reached the small house Silver ran inside, Gray followed after him, he noticed that Natsu was still asleep so he made his way to the kitchen to make the pancakes. Silver joined him in the kitchen.

"Do you want to help?" Gray asked.

"Sure!"

"Gray pulled a chair over to the counter for the boy to stand on. Silver climbed onto the chair and they both made breakfast together. They ended up making a mess in the process, but they laughed when...Well Silver laughed when Gray would end up flicking pancake batter on himself which would then result in Gray laughing too.

Natsu had woken up to the sound of laughter and followed the sound while stretching. He rubbed the sleep from his eyes as he stood by the doorway to the kitchen. He watched as his son and his ex were laughing away and having fun while making something...he walked into the kitchen and smiled. "Having fun?"

Gray and Silver jumped a little as they didn't hear the dragon slayer enter the room, they turned around and smiled while Natsu laughed because he frightened them.

"were making pancakes!" Silver exclaimed after Natsu stopped laughing.

"They sure do smell good! Did you help?"

Silver nodded and Natsu smiled "Then I bet they taste great too!"

Gray placed a plate on the table pilled high with pancakes, he then placed another plate that already had food on it on the table for Silver.

After everyone finished eating Gray asked Natsu if he wanted to go check out the guild and possibly see any of his friends. The fire mage nodded. "Yeah, I'd like to say hi to Erza and Lucy, I really did miss them."

"I'm sure they would all be happy to see you, and i'm talking about the entire Guild, not just Erza and Lucy" Gray smiled. "I sure missed you.." the ice mage looked away as those words slipped past his lips in a low whisper but Natsu's impeccable hearing picked it up and he smirked at Gray.

"You missed me? oh really now?" Natsu voice way playful.

Gray became flustered as he realized Natsu had heard what he had said. "Y-yeah I did..."

Natsu's smirk got bigger and decided to poke a bit of fun at the ice mage. "Eh, I bet you had plenty of relationships while I was gone."

"Not a one." Gray bluntly stated.

"Why? You could have been with anyone you wanted. I bet you a Juvia were together for a while!"

"No you flame head, I wasn't in a relationship at all since you left!" Gray was now starting to sound angry.

"Why?"

Natsu didn't get an answer so he kept asking. "Why? Why didn't you find another relationship?" The fire mage had been asking why for the past 5 minutes.

"Because I still love you!!" Gray spat at the now shocked fire mage.

"You what?"

"I still love you Natsu! I will alway's love you and only you!" Gray stood up abruptly and made his way to the front door.

Natsu sat there for a few minutes, shock still clearly written on his face before Gray's voice snapped him out of his shocked state.

"You coming or what?!"

"Y-yeah!" Natsu looked over to take Silver's hand only to find that he wasn't there. He looked to the front door to see that he had already followed Gray.

"Come on dad!" Natsu smiled as he saw how visibly excited his son was to go back to the guild. He smiled and walked over to the two.

As they walked to the Guild Natsu had noticed that Gray had visibly calmed down and was now smiling as he carried their son on his shoulders, This made Natsu smile and he thought 'I missed you too Gray'

Gray was the first to enter the Guild and once again all the girls fawned over the boy being placed onto the floor. Silver Ran over to sit with Erza and Lucy while Gray pulled Natsu into the building.

"Hey everyone! Look who I found!!" Gray shouted.

Everyone's eyes landed on them as they took a good look at the person standing next to the ice mage.

"Natsu is that you!!??" Almost every member shouted.

"Hey guys!" Natsu scratched the back of his neck as he smiled. Gray moved out of the way as everyone jumped the fire mage and grabbed him in a bone crushing hug.

After they all let go Natsu said that he would talk to them later and walked over to Erza and Lucy's table, the two females did not tackle him with a hug, they were waiting until he came over to them. Erza already had his head pinned against her armored chest, at least after she whacked him on the head for disappearing for 7 years. Lucy hugged him after Erza let go and said it was nice to see him again. He sat down next to Silver. Gray had gone to his office for a bit, but the girls were not expecting Natsu's first question.

"Where's Gramps?"

"Natsu? You haven't heard?" Lucy spoke, her voice sad.

"Heard what?" The fire mage tilted his head in confusion.

"Natsu, Makarov passed away...6 years ago..." Erza said looking down.

"W-what?" Natsu felt tears prick at his eyes and his voice cracked. Silver noticed that his dad was sad and hugged him.

"the day you left he stepped down as Guild master" This was Gray's voice. "he was going to make you master but then you left the Guild that same day. He had to pick someone else, he settled on me." Gray sat down next to Natsu and rubbed his back to comfort him.

"O-oh" Natsu wrapped his arms around Silver and placed his head on Gray's shoulder.

"I'm sorry Natsu.."
