Chapter eight: Masquerade
~March 21st, 2016~
Kyrie and co. walked up the large stairs that led to the mansion in front of them. "Damn, this place is bigger than McHenry mansion," Kelly said looking through her gold mask at the four story mansion. "Its enormous," Sam whispered as she linked arms with Steven, Kelly doing the same. Kyrie took Angel's hand and he wrapped it around his bicep as they walked towards the front doors.
The doors opened as soon as they walked up to them and Kyrie handed her three tickets and Angel his two to the man who was standing at attention in a black butlers outfit with a black mask. "Welcome Mr. And Mrs. Kerr," the butler said, surprising Kyrie. She looked at Angel and gave him a "what the fuck?" look to which Angel shrugged his shoulders. "Welcome Mr. Beck, Mrs. Luciano, Miss Kirst," the butler said behind Kyrie and Angel. Kyrie looked around, seeing a sea of dresses and tuxedos and an assortment of different coloured masks. She watched as butlers walked around the grand room handing out glasses of champagne and hors d'oeuvres of all kinds. A string and wood orchestra played on a raised platform in the corner of the room and everyone was dancing to the classical music they played. "So heres the plan," Kyrie said as her sisters and Steven all converged around her and Angel. "We scope out the place, look for possible exits if needed, find Raymond and if any of us get a chance, we kill him and make our escape."
"'Kill him'? Oh dear I hope you arent speaking about me Lady Garrison," a man in an all black tux with red tie (just like Angels outfit), said as he came to stand behind Kyrie. Angel immediately pulled Kyrie behind him and glared at the man. "Tut tut Mr. Kerr," the man that everyone knew to be Raymond Vegas said, shaking a finger at Angel in a disapproving manner. "I only wish to talk to your lovely bride to be," Vegas told him. "May I?" He asked, holding out his hand for Kyrie. "Its okay babe, Its just a dance," Kyrie said as she walked out from behind Angel. She took Vegas's hand and he lead her onto the dance floor. She watched as Angel took Kelly's hand and Steven took Sam's and they both took to the dance floor, always staying close to Kyrie and Vegas.
"Well then, now that we're slightly alone, may I speak freely?" Vegas said as he twirled Kyrie around on the dance floor. "I suppose, it is your party after all," Kyrie said, staring into the dark brown eyes of her enemy. Vegas smiled. "Yes I suppose it is isnt it?" Kyrie just nodded. "I wished to talk to you tonight Miss Garrison-" "Just call me Kyrie, it'll save the last bits of breath you'll have before I kill you," Kyrie said, glaring at him. To Kyrie's surprise Vegas began laughing. "Oh my dear you are a riot," Vegas said wiping a tear of laughter from his eyes. Kyrie glared at him. "What? You think because I'm a woman I cant defeat you?" she growled, playing the femanist card one of her friends used to play all the time in high school. Vegas looked slightly surprised at her words. "Oh no my dear, as a matter of fact a female HAS beaten me before. I barely escaped with my life intact and I have the scars to bear from that war as well," Vegas loosened his neck tie and unbuttoned the top two buttons of his shirt, revealing his neck to Kyrie. Kyries' eyes widened at the scars across his neck. It looked like somebody had tore into his neck and taken a large chunck from it. Either that or an animal had done it.
"Damn," Kyrie whispered, not realizing she'd said it aloud until Vegas said something. "Do you know any Hunters by the name of Faith Wilson? Vixen Sola? Well she's known as Vixen Biersack now a days but shes most well known as Vixen Sola," Vegas added almost as an after thought. Kyrie knew both Hunters. Personally. She also knew that her cousin Ravyn Garrison-Kerr (her cousin had married Angels cousin with the same name, which was kind of freaky) knew both Hunters and had Hunted with them on multiple occassions. "I take it by the look in your eyes that you do in fact know them," Kyrie nodded. "Well then, you should know that Vixen had defeated me once before. She was the one to give me these scars to be exact. If it hadn't been for my beloved wife Lana Wolf, who was a seer and healer in her Romnichel Gypsy family, I would certainly have died that night."
Kyrie looked at Vegas surprised. She didnt think he'd HAVE a wife for some reason. "Yes dear I have a wife and yes I'm a telepath just as you are," Vegas told kyrie, momentarily startling her. "Okay so you know a little about me after all," Kyrie thought aloud. Vegas nodded as they walked off to the side of the dance floor. Kyrie caught Angel and the others following them. "Would you prefer to speak in a private room my dear? Your family of course can join us as well. I believe you would like to hear what I have to say, and once I am done, if you wish, you may end my life. I won't even let my beloved Lana bring me back from the brink once more, I give you my word on this." Kyrie looked at her family, especially her grandfather. "We should hear him out, before we bring him in," Steven said, speaking of course about the bounty placed upon Vegas and his pack of rogue wolves that were meant to be brought into the council dead or alive. "Alright Vegas, we'll hear you out."
