"Hello" my raspy voice sounded as I picked up the phone
I looked over at the time and it was 1 am. Why does someone always seem to call me in the middle of the night
"Kendall you need to come home now. If Carson doesn't wake up by tomorrow they are unplugging him from life support." Maggie said
"Oh my gosh ok. I'm getting the next flight back, please don't let them do it without me saying goodbye." I said in tears as I hung up
I jumped out of my bed and started cramming my stuff in my bag.
"Hey girl you good"
"No Mahogany ive got to back home. I'm going to the airport right now. Tell Matt and Hayes im going back to Cali when he wakes up. Bye girl"
That was the last thing I said before slamming the door and sprinting to the closing elevator. I made it just in time and it reopened
"Hey sis what are you doing" Matt asked
"I'm going back to Cali to be with Carson" I said
"Oh im sorry" he said pulling me into a hug
Soon he pulled away as the elevator beeped indicating we were at the lobby
I pulled out my phone and dialed a taxi a so walked outside
As I sat outside of the hotel on a bench waiting in the warm Florida weather I wondered what life would be like if I never met Hayes.
Never would I be here or would I have met Carson and his family. I would of never moved to Cali or realized my love for LA. He really has changed my life
Soon my cab finally arrived. I hopped in and took a deep breath as I all too soon had to kiss Orlando goodbye.
What seemed to be seconds later we arrived at the airport.
"Have nice night sweetie" the cab driver said rolling his hat as I got out
I walked into the airport and straight to security. I bought my ticket online while I was in the cab and luckily the next flight leaves in 10 minutes.
I went ahead and got on the flight anyway and pulled out the most important thing I have.
The journal may parents gave me long ago. I never have wrote in it but right now seems the best time ever, so I pick up my pencil and I write,
Everyday goes by and not one is much easier than the other. Memories of you are everywhere. I remember how you loved butter pecan ice cream and yellow was your favorite color because it was a "happy color" you always said. Like the sun you lit up my world and of course the sun still shines now but it's not as bright. You had the prettiest smile I've ever seen and you were alway wearing it, no matter what. If I could only be half the woman you were I'd be amazing. I love you mom; I wish I would've told you this a million more times than I did. I'll see you again thought so until then I'll strive to make you proud.
I slipped my journal back into my backpack and put in my headphones and I dozed off to sleep.
Before I knew it the plane had landed and I was all the way to the hospital already and about to walk into Carsons room. I took a deep breath as I opened the door.
All his family turned and looked at me as the door opened.
"Hey kendall. We will give you some time with Carson before we pull the plug." Carsons dad said as he patted me on the back and walked out the door with everyone following after him.
Soon it was me and Carson.
I pulled up a chair and sat right by his bed as I grabbed his cold hand and held it in mine.
"Hey Carson" I said softly
"I know you probably can't hear me but please stay, please. We just met and you're like brother to me already. I absolutely love you and you're family and I know they need you more than ever. I flew all the way from Orlando to be here with you. Please fight for us all Carson. I love you so much." I said
I wiped the tears that streamed from my eyes and gave him a kiss on the forehead before I walked out to join his family, indicating I was ready.
We all stepped in his room and just waited as the doctor came in.
Maggie stood beside me and grabbed my hand tightly.
The doctor grabbed the plug and looked over at us, "are you ready" he questioned
We all shook our heads, really though none of us wanted to let go
Next thing I knew he pulled the plug.....
