I sat on the couch next to Justin. Detective Calvin sat in the chair across from us, pulling out his note pad and getting comfortable. I took Justin's hand and smiled at him, he knew I would support him through this."I understand you have a history with Chris Hobbs." Justin tensed at his name but nodded his head. "Was this the first you have seen of him since the incident at your prom."
"No, first I bumped into him a few months later at the hospice. He was doing his community service there. Then hm..." He looked at me nervously. What happened...?
"A week before he hit me, I ran into him on the street while I was walking home from my studio.""What? Why didn't you tell me he was in New York." Justin looked down in shame and shrugged his shoulders. We were going to have this out later.
"Go on Mr. Kinney."
"He said his normal homophobic bull shit. He called me a faggot, asked me if I had aids yet. He was looking me over when he asked about Brian." He looked at me. "He didn't know your name. But he asked if I was still with the queer that broke his knee cap." My jaw clenched at the memory that brought on. I should of broken more then that. "I said yes, and he got angry. He asked about your age and how you were to old for me. Said you should have been in jail." Justin started playing with his wedding ring. I grabbed his hand to stop him and looked at the detective. He nodded in unspoken agreement.
"Justin, did anything ever happen between you and Mr. Hobbs?" I chuckled and Justin elbowed me.
"Yes I jerked him off once at school. He kinda freaked afterwards." Calvin nodded and wrote it down.
"From what you told me so far and I believe your Husband agrees. Mr. Hobbs may have a thing for you, in a sexual way." I nodded in agreement.
"Of course, and bashing my head in and hitting me with a car is the perfect way to show it." Justin was irritated. He started play with his ring again. I looked at detective Calvin.
"Do you do that a lot?" He pointed at Justin's hand. He looked at me and then the detective.
"I guess, it is comforting when I am stressed or nervous."
"I would say that Mr. Hobbs is very unstable when it comes to his feelings for you. He is clearly not comfortable with his sexuality. So when it comes to you and your involvement with others such as Brian he acts out of pure jealousy." Justin cocked his head in a questioning way.
"When he attacked you at your prom, you two had just danced and kissed each other in a very intimate way. He saw you together and became jealous. I would assume he wanted a relationship with you but was not comfortable with himself and was angry seeing you with Brian."
"Like that was gonna happen." Justin said under his breath. I shook my head at him. Yeah, never would have happened. Justin was mine from the first night, we both knew that.
"I guess his approaching you in New York was similar. He was testing the waters, asking about Brian. You at the time wore Brian's wedding ring on a chain around your neck. Bet it is safe to say you played with that as well." Realization flashed in Justin's eyes. "My guess is he saw the ring and asked about Brian. When you confirmed that the two of you were still together, he became angry again. I mean those rings are obviously not regular rings. With the engravings they are obviously wedding rings."
"So, you think that the mother fucker almost killed Justin because we are married." I was damn near shaking with rage. Justin pushed against me and put his head on my shoulder. It helped a little to calm me.
"Yes and no, he would have most likely gotten angry no matter who Justin was with. I think the fact it was you and he remembers you from prom only added to it. The construction company he works for said he hasn't showed to work since the day he hit you. No one has seen him at all either." Justin started to shake. I wrapped my arms around him and buried his face in my neck.
