Jalex One Shot - First Date

I ran my fingers though my straightened hair for the millionth time and stared at myself in the mirror. The pale wide eyed boy stared back at me, fawn eyes blinking, and the unshaven facial hair poked out at his jawline making his cheeks seem more defined. Holy shit, is that what I really looked like?!

I quickly rubbed at my face trying desperately to change my appearance, but nothing was working. Frowning, I turned away from the mirror and looked down at my shirt.

Dammit, Alex! Now you got a stain on your shirt!

Sighing, I reached into my closet to pull out another shirt. It was a Fall Out Boy shirt and I cringed slightly remembering what Jack had said about Fall Out Boy. Knowing that I couldn't wear that shirt in front of Jack ever again, I grabbed a different one, happy that it was a Led Zepplin tank top.

"Is it too old?" I murmured to myself, pulling it against my chest and examining myself in the mirror. "Shut up, Alex, you're acting like a teenaged girl." I scolded myself, yanking my stained shirt over my head and pulling on the Led Zepplin one, wincing at the cold. Jesus. They should make heaters for your clothes so they're not all fucking cold when you put it on. Hey! I could make a lot of money off of that.

I glanced down at my phone and almost fell to the floor, angry with myself. I still had a half an hour to go. I grunted and sat on my bed, feeling the soft quilt press into my butt sinking me further onto the bed.

Jack Bassam Barakat asked me out on a date. I blushed just thinking about it. Jack had came up to me with a smirk on his face and winked, nudging me with his hipbone.

'Alex,' he laughed, 'do you wanna make Jalex a real thing?'

And I guess that did it for me. His jokes were so lame sometimes that I almost thought he was really joking until he winked. 'Cool? So at 6, I'll pick you up? Wear something hot!' and he walked off, whistling nonchalantly.

It's now 5:47.

6:00! COME NOW!

I fell onto my back, letting the pillows come in contact with my straightened hair. I didn't care anymore. Actually, I did, but I put a shit load of hair product in it so it wouldn't get messed up. I pulled out my phone and decided to play some music to get by.

I had a Jack playlist of all the songs that reminded me of him, so I pressed the play button.

As if God was watching me this whole fucking time, First Date by Blink182 came on making me smile slightly at the lyrics.

In my car, I just can't wait, to pick you up on our very first date, is it cool if I hold your hand? Is it wrong if I think it's lame to dance? Do you like my stupid hair? Can you guess that I didn't know what to wear? Are you scared of what you think? You make me nervous that I really can't-

"Alex?" chuckled Jack's voice causing me to sit up quickly, blushing and fumbling with my phone.

"God, Jack! You scared the living shit out of me." I grunted, rubbing my head. The skunk haired boy smirked, playing with his belt loops, eyeing me casually.

"So, I told you to wear something hot, and you chose to wear an angel man with his dick hanging out?" Jack tutted making me blush even further. "Now, that's a little desperate."

"Shut up." I whined, shaking my head. Jack grinned and nodded to the door.

"Let's go." He opened his arm out to my door and I stood, pocketing my phone and walking out of my room down the stairs and out my door. Jack laughed again and didn't follow me. "Where do you think you're going, Gaskarth?"

I blinked and turned on my heel, staring at him curiously. "What? I thought you were taking me out on a date?"

Jack only bit the inside of his cheek and I felt like a complete idiot. Fuck. He must've been joking! I knew it! Jack would have never said that and actually meant it! Oh my God, I'm the stupidest person ever.

Hearing myself whimper, I felt tears in my eyes as I stood in front of Jack, my body shaking and my stomach twisting.

Jack's features turned from amusement to worry as he stepped outside of the house and pulled me back in, leading me to the couch and forcing me to sit on it as he tried to control my panic attack.

"Alex? Alex!" Jack ordered, snapping his fingers in front of my face. "Alex! Calm down. Take a breath!"

"Y-y-you can't jo-joke a-about som-something l-l-l-like that wi-wi-with me!" I wailed, rocking back and forth. "Y-you're s-s-such an ass-ass-asshole!"

Jack grinned. "I'm an ass-ass-asshole?"

"Shut up!"

Jack only placed his hands on the side of my face and squeezed a bit at my cheeks making me want to hit him for fooling around like this. What the hell was his problem?

"Alex! Of course I wasn't joking around. I was serious about Jalex." Jack laughed, stroking my cheek with his thumb. "I know you might be confused, but look around. Look at the living room, you dick."

Wiping at my eyes, I shuddered and glanced around the living room. Jack had a movie set up on pause, some chinese food sitting on the coffee table, two pillows sitting next to each other facing the TV and two beers just waiting to be drunk.

Blinking, I rubbed at my eyes. "You did this?"

"Yeah." Jack laughed, suddenly bashful. "You were singing upstairs, so I set this up and thought we could do an indoor date."

"At my house?" I chuckled, sounding a bit clogged up from my crying.

"Yeah, we're surrounded by fucking fangirls, and I didn't think you'd want to be public like that right now. And your house is secluded as fuck, so I figured why not?"

I felt my ears go red in embarrassment. "Jack, I'm sorry I called you an asshole."

Jack bit his lower lip and gently chucked my chin. "It's okay. I'm not sorry for calling you a dick though."

I threw a pillow at him which he caught and lowered, pouting. "Ouch. That was mean."

I shrugged and plopped down on my designated pillow. "The food's getting cold."

"Oh, so that's what you want then!" Jack joked, sitting down next to me and nuzzling against me slightly. "I see how it is."

"Shut up, Jack." I winked, playing the movie. Of course. Home Alone. How…romantic. *gags*

-.-.-.-.-

Right before the movie ended, Jack leaned over whispering in my ear. "Do you like that song by Blink? First Date?"

"Yeah…" I trailed off watching as the credits started rolling. "It's aight."

"Cool." Jack kissed my cheek causing me to turn red. "Do you like a lot of the Blink songs? Like, can you name them if I give you a line?"

"Maybe." I swallowed, turning to him. He looked pleased with himself.

"Okay. How about this one?" He looked thoughtful. "Fate fell short this time-"

"Feeling this." I grinned. Jack grunted his approval.

"Okay. How about: She left me roses by the stairs, surprises like this lets me know she cares-"

"All The Small Things." I replied, happy with myself. Jack nodded.

"Okay. Last one.But this one, you have to finish where I left off. Okay?"

I nodded to let him know that I understood.

"Good. Okay. Let's go, don't wait, this night's almost over-"

He glanced at me expectantly. I mumbled the first part because I didn't know the lyrics and became clear when I got comfortable.

"Let's make this last forever."

"Forever and ever-" Jack mumbled, kissing my lips softly causing sparks to fly through my body. "Let's make this last forever."
