Mercy
I remember falling & I remember Logan telling me he was coming down to get me out. I remember yelling at him to go get help & to not try to come down to get me. I remember being scared. I remember keeping my focus on the sky above me instead of my surroundings. There were lots of bugs, I was sure, but I tried not to focus on that. I had sunlight coming down on me & I could see a lot of green around me. I remember starting to feel woozy & that's when I realized my pod had come off when I fell. I had no idea where it was, but even if I did, I couldn't put it back on because it was probably filthy.
I tried to keep my eyes open but it was difficult, after a while. I sang for as long as I could, but then my head felt woozy & I had to close my eyes. While I was passed out, I went back to my childhood, when I performed for my school. Then I was imagining my mom when she was little performing. We had sang the same song & that was the song that I had been singing before I passed out.
The next thing I remember was my dad shouting. I could hear him but I couldn't open my eyes to answer him. He sounded angry & I wondered if he was mad that Logan & I had gone off the path to take pictures. I heard concern in my dad's voice, the second time he yelled my name, so I knew he was worried about me.
Dad's voice seemed to get louder & then I felt someone touching my cheek. I opened my eyes & saw my dad looking at me, a relieved expression on his face. "Hey baby girl." He said, with a slight smirk.
"Daddy?" My voice was weak.
"Yes, it's me. I have a juice box. Thought you might be thirsty plus your sugar is probably low."
I looked around, wondering if I was dreaming. I sat up a little straighter, then took the juice box from Dad. Once I started drinking the sweet liquid, I realized this was real. "How did you get down here?" I asked my dad after a few minutes. "Did you fly?" I asked, grinning as I watched Dad check over my body to see how injured I was.
Dad looked up & gave me an eye roll. "I came down on a rope." He held the rope up to show me. "This is how we're getting back up."
