Nick

I had to really act like I was okay when Demi told me that Logan & Mercy had made up & that the little shit was now coming to my show the next night. I counted to ten in my head & sucked in my lip, then pretended to be someone else. I pretended to be a man who had a daughter who wasn't friends with a young man who made her cry. It was a challenge, but I convinced Demi & Mercy that I was cool with the game plan.

Immediately, I paid Phil a visit & told him there was a change in plans & that I would take the car to pick up Logan the next morning. I explained that I wanted to make sure he was safe. I didn't even know why I was doing this. I also had no idea what I was going to say or do to Logan. As I made my way up to the floor Logan's family was staying on, I thought about what I would say to him. Many possibilities popped into my head, but nothing stuck out as being the right thing.

I knocked on the door & Logan's dad opened it a moment later. "Nick. Good morning. How are you?"

"I'm good. Is Logan ready to go?" I asked, just as Logan came into sight. His eyes widened when he saw me.

"Mr. Jonas. Hi. I didn't know you were coming to get me." Logan said in a shaky voice as he walked toward the door.

"Yea, I told Phil I wanted to make sure you got there, safely

"Yea, I told Phil I wanted to make sure you got there, safely." I pressed my lips together & looked at Logan's dad. "You ready for the show tonight?"

"Yea, the whole family is looking forward to it. You sure he's not going to be too much trouble today?" Logan's dad put his hand on Logan's shoulder as he smirked.

"Not at all. He & Mercy can hang out & then we'll see you guys later, at the concert." I looked at Logan, as he looked at his dad, then back at me. "You ready to go?"

"Yea." Logan grabbed a backpack, then flung it over his shoulder. "Bye, Dad. I'll see you later."

"Have fun & behave yourself." His dad warned him as he walked out of the room.

"I will." Logan yelled over his shoulder, then started walking with me, down the hall. We got on the elevator & Logan shifted on his feet nervously. I started to feel bad for the kid as I watched the elevator numbers light up in descending order. "So, how's the tour going so far?" Logan asked, suddenly. I appreciated his effort to be polite & start a conversation with me.

"So far, so good." I answered, as the elevator doors opened. I motioned for Logan to go left, then I got in front of him & led him to where the car was waiting for us.

We got in the car & neither of us spoke for a few minutes. I felt my phone vibrate & pulled it out to see I had a missed call & a voicemail from Demi. I knew what that was about. She knew where I had gone. I sighed, then listened to her message. "Nick, I don't know what you think you're doing, but I swear to God, if you say anything to Logan that scares him or if you threaten him or hurt him, you will be so incredibly sorry. And that is a promise, I assure you." I heard the click of her ending the call & it seemed louder than usual. I knew the tone of Demi's voice & I knew she was dead serious in what she said. I cleared my throat as Logan looked over at me, his eyebrows up, curiously. I chuckled, looking down at my phone. "The wife." Logan nodded, like he understood what I meant, since he probably heard Demi's loud tone, from where he was sitting. Finally, I decided to speak up, before I lost my chance. "So, you... uh.... hurt Mercy pretty bad, telling her you didn't want to be her friend anymore."
