A gift for who?

Was the question that rushed through my head as I watched him from behind the counter. He walked over until he leaned onto the glass counter directly in front of me and studied the array of jewellery that was displayed under it. I gulped and watched him do so. When he looked up at me again, the ghost of a smile still remained. He pointed at a necklace.

"Can I have that silver necklace please?" He asked. I hastily nodded and unlocked the case, fetching his desired necklace. On the way back up, I knocked my head against the edge of the table, much to my embarrassment. He suppressed a laugh, I could tell by the way his lips were pursed together.

"That will be $59" I recited, wandering who was worth this expensive jewellery. He nodded, and pulled the money out of his pockets. I jutted my palm out for the money, and it felt electric when my his fingers slightly brushed my palm in that moment.

I quickly put the money into the cash register and placed his purchase in a bag, along with his receipts.

"Thanks, Jolene." He said before walking out of the shop. For a second, I was just stunned by the fact that he knew my name, but then I remembered the name tag I'd been wearing. I smiled at the way he'd said my name, as it gave me butterflies.
