"Why that one?" His piercing gaze moved to me, genuine curiosity floating amidst his dark eyes. I gulped.
"Well, it has a ruby in it," I began, and carefully pulled the item out of the shelf. I the fragile piece in my palms and marvelled at the beauty for a moment. The way the the jewel reflected the lights in my palm made me stare.
"And the ruby is a symbol of love and affection, so giving it to anyone would symbolise how much they mean to you and their value to you. Giving this to a girl would make her feel very special." I concluded, and then looked up him. He was already looking at me.
As our eyes met, he smiled at me. I couldn't help but smile back.
"Thank you, Jolene." He murmured, taking the item from my palms with utmost care. "I think I might just get this one."
Beside him, I stiffly nodded.
