That weekend, he came into my work again, much to my surprise.
"Hey Jolene." He greeted, as he browsed at the many items available at the store.
"Hi Jacob." I mumbled back. He looked at the many decorative pieces on display, studying them closely and then moving to the next cabinet. My boss then peaked her head out from the back storage rooms, and frowned to see me idly sitting behind the counter whilst a customer was in the store. I quickly jumped off my ass and went to help him, as required to do as an employee.
"How can I help you today?" I asked in my chippy voice that I used on all customers, aware that my bods still watched me. Jacob side eyed me and smiled.
"Which one of these would impress a girl?" He asked earnestly, and it was a blow to my dainty heart. Pushing back lose tendril of my brown hair I looked at the cabinets, my eyes scouring for something.
Part of me wanted to choose a horrid gift, the other part didn't want to let a customer down.
Sighing, I knew that, as a customer, I needed to help him, so I ignored the way his shirt hugged his abdomen and pointed at a little necklace that I myself had been eyeing for a while.
