I couldn't stop thinking about the date last night. Shawn really wasn't that bad after all, and I might have even started liking him. In fact, I kind of hated myself for liking him. I know that sounds silly but I couldn't stand the thought of me ever being with Shawn. But at the same time, I hated how much I liked him. I guess when a guy pops out a guitar and starts serenading you it's kind of hard not to like him.
I laid in bed watching the rain drip down the window. I kept checking my phone to see if Shawn texted me, but he hasn't all day. It was Saturday, and I had nothing to do. I wasn't too sure if I should have texted him first. I didn't want him to read it & not reply, making me look like an idiot. I walked downstairs to grab a bite to eat to fill my empty stomach. My mom watched me as a poured my cereal into my bowl.
"Why are you staring at me?" I asked. Mom laughed before she replied. "How was your date last night?" I rolled my eyes. "It was fine, why does it matter?" She pulled my bowl of cereal away from me, placing it on the other side of her. "Let me guess, you've been in your room all day waiting for him to text you but he hasn't?" I stared at my mom, wondering how the hell she knew. "How did you know?" I asked.
My mom placed her hand on my shoulder. "The same thing happend to me when I went on my first date." I took a sip of my water, and placed the glass back on the counter. "And did he ever text you back?" I asked. "He did, but it was to tell me that he found someone else." I rolled my eyes, grabbing my cereal and walking to my room. Wow, my mom sure made me feel great. What if Shawn did text me back, but just to tell me he wasn't interested. I wouldn't be surprised if he did.
Hours passed and Shawn still hasn't texted me. It was late now, about 8:00pm. I rolled my eyes, placing my phone on the end of my bed. I threw my hair in a quick pony tail, but stopped in my tracks when I heard a loud singing voice outside. I walked over to my window and looked down. I was awestruck when I saw Shawn holding a radio in the air, belting the lyrics to "You always make me smile" by Kyle Andrews.
"Shawn, are you drunk?" I shouted, and then looking back to make sure my Mom wasn't behind me. Shawn laughed, setting down the radio. "Maybe just a tiny bit." I smiled at Shawn's stupidity. I told him to climb up to my window, which he did. I pulled him inside quietly to make sure my Mom didn't hear. "What were you thinking?" I asked. Shawn sat on my bed. "I don't really know, to tell you the truth." He laughed. I pulled out a gum packet from my drawer. "Your breath reaks like Alcohol" Shawn smirked, taking the piece of gum from my hand. He laid back on my bed, and looked at me.
"I really don't want to go back home." he said. "And why is that?" I asked. "My Dad will kill me if he finds out I'm drunk" I laid back, beside him. "And my Mom will kill me if she comes in my room and finds a boy with me."
"Oh, your mom is downstairs? Let me introduce myself" Shawn said, walking towards my bedroom door. I pulled him back before he could open it. "Are you crazy?" I scowled. "I'll be grounded until I die if she founds out I snuck you into my room. You shouldn't even be here!" Shawn raised his hands. "Fine. Fine I won't introduce myself. But don't you ever say that I don't have manners" he joked. I rolled my eyes, and pulled out some blankets from my closet. "Here, if you want to stay the night you can sleep on the floor." Shawn jumped onto the mess of blankets and pillows on the floor causing a thump. "Shawn!" I said, hitting him on the arm.
"Sam?" my mom shouted. I paniced, shoving Shawn into my closet before my mom came in. "What's all that noise?" she asked as she opened my bedroom door. "Oh, uh I just tripped on the blankets." She looked at my floor confused. "Why do you have so many blankets and pillows on the floor?" I tried to think of an excuse as quickly as I could. "I might sleep on the floor tonight. It uh looks kind of comfortable." My mom gave me "The look" before walking out of my room. I flopped down on my bed in relife. "Can I come out now?" Shawn asked, peeping through the crack in the closet door. I nodded, and he came and sat on my bed.
"Thanks for letting me stay over, tonight." He said.
"No problem"
