“Get up! Get up! Get up! Get up!” I felt my head throbbing badly as someone jumped up and down on my bed. Rubbing my eyes, I woke up to see my silly little brother yelling at the top of his voice. What a glorious way to begin the day.
“You can stop jumping Joe. I am up, can’t you see?” I was never a morning person and the events from the past few days only added up to my grumpyness.
“It’s your first day at my school. Aren’t you excited?” Joe asked showing his little teeth. Just for his sake, I plastered a smile on my face and nodded. Walking in the shower, I decided not to think about anyone or anything but I couldn’t help my thoughts that kept pondering back to the time I had spent with Louis in Croydon. Even if they were just two days, they were enough for me to fall head over heals for him and now I knew one thing which was for sure, if he would ask for another chance, I would never be able to say no. I wanted him, without him everything was feeling empty.
Shaking off the thoughts, I turned off the shower and began to dress up. The new school and people were the least of my worries; my mind was revolving around Louis and Zayn. What would I do if Zayn still wanted to start over, will I give him a chance? No, how could I play with the feelings of both of them. I had done that before and the results weren’t pleasant. Settling for a hot pink crop top and black skinny jeans, I put up a small amount of mascara and lip gloss before going downstairs.
“I don’t think it’s a good idea to let her go to a whole new school alone, in such a condition.” I heard mom speaking. Her voice was full of concern which made me smile.
“Mom, I will be there with her. Why do you worry?” Joe said, making my smile turn into a grin.
“Don’t worry Martha, I’ll go with her and get her settled.” I stopped dead in my tracks. What was he doing here?
“Thank you so much, Zayn. I don’t know what she would do without you.” Mom said, making me huff.
“I’m sorry to interfere but I can handle myself, I am not a kid.” I snapped, taking out a box of Fruity Pebbles and pouring its content into a bowl full of milk. I didn’t make an eye contact with Zayn, I didn’t want to. No one spoke a word while I was eating. When I was done and ready to leave, Zayn and Joe followed me. Half way to the school, no words were exchanged but I could feel his gaze on me.
“What is your first class?” Zayn asked, breaking the silence.
“Don’t you have a school to attend?” I cross answered.
“I uh don’t want to.” He said. I stopped walking and turned around to face him. Bad move because he was now just inches away from me.
“What is your problem Zayn? Do you think that I am a toddler? I can walk to the school all by myself, I don’t need a bodygaurd. Don’t you have a girlfriend to fuck or something?” I spat but clasped my mouth shut after rethinking about what I had said in front of Joe.
“Joe, let’s go.” I held him by the wrist and started dragging him towards the school.
“Give me a chance to make it up to you Izzie. Don’t block me out of your life like this. Please.” He pleaded, making me halt once again.
“Let’s drop Joe to the school and then I will talk to you. Now please shut your mouth and keep walking.” I groaned but kept walking, finally reaching the school.
“You aren’t going to come inside?” Joe asked, “I will Joe, but right now I have something more important to do.” I said eyeing Zayn and then bent down to give a kiss on Joe’s forehead. He kissed me on my cheek and ran inside.
“Come with me.” I held Zayn’s wrist and dragged him away from the school to a park nearby.
“Speak.” I said crossing my arms over my chest.
