I'm back home, in my own bed, snuggled up in my duvet, pillows scattered all over. The slight breeze sways the light curtains along gently, the birds sing a warm welcome. So comfortable. So relaxed. The slight breeze transforms into a gale, which turns into a strong aggressive wind, shaking me, rocking me back and forth, back and forth.
"Calla! Rise and shine!" A male voice sings atrociously.
I open my wear eyes to see Joel, shaking my hammock and singing 'Morning Has Broken' off key and shakily.
I rub my eyes. This can't be real.
That's when the memories from the past twenty four hours play through my mind. Shitting hell.
Joel ends up getting quite impatient, "CALLA!" He shouts, causing me to tumble out of my hammock and onto the grubby ground.
"Joel!" I groan, picking myself up from the floor and sitting down on the edge of my hammock.
"Come on!" Joel tries to pull me off of my hammock, and eventually succeeds. "We'll be getting a visit from Ant and Dec pretty soon." He drags me over to the campfire which is lit and spitting sparks aggressively.
It's busy in the morning, people gathering firewood, water, cleaning the toilet, tidying camp, showering.
Lisa pokes at the fire with a long stick, "Morning honey, sleep well?" She queries as we sit down next to her.
"Surprisingly well." I admit. I wasn't expecting to sleep at all here, but I slept amazingly. I expect the nerves made me tired as well as hungry.
"Aren't you going to ask me how I slept, Lisa?" Joel says cheekily, leaning on his hand.
Lisa shrugs, "No." She laughs, standing up and grabbing her canteen.
One by one people file into camp, Scarlett and Sam coming from the shower, Ola and Carol from the herb garden.
"So what happens now?" I lean over to ask Joel.
"Ant and Dec come down and say 'good morning' and then give us the bad news."
"Bad news being?"
Joel laughs, "The inevitability of ingesting kangaroo testicles."
I choke on my water. Jesus, so many kangaroo testicles!
As if on cue, the two presenters do appear.
"Morning!" Ant greets.
A chorus of greetings erupt throughout the camp.
"Today you will be continuing the Hungry Games. You will be competing in a a series of mini games to win stars for your team. Please meet us in the trail area as soon as possible." And with a quick smile and wave, they vanish.
Joel groans. "More? I hate this!"
"Same. I wish we could all be a team again, it's really awkward going against your mates." Scarlett sighs.
Everyone seems fairly gloomy this morning until Adam jumps up. "Come on lads! Let's get going! Yellow team or blue team, who even cares!" He grins, pulling up Sam Quek and twirling her around.
"Ad's right, let's get going!" Wayne shouts, and soon enough, everyone is on their feet and walking to the trial area.
I walk with Lisa and Sam. "Who's waiting for you at the end of the bridge?" Lisa asks Sam, referencing to the walk out of camp when you get voted out.
"Hopefully my boyfriend." Sam replies simply, "I miss him, but I've been away from him for much longer than this before so in a sad kind of way I'm used to being apart from him, but that doesn't mean I don't miss him."
