I'm alone in the cold streets of London. The biting cold snaking around my legs and arms. I can't breathe. The ground tremors and before I can scream out, a gaping hole appears underneath me and the ground sucks me in, pulling me deeper and deeper into the Earth's hot crust. The hole above closes up. I'm trapped. I can't breathe. Can't breathe-"Calla? Calla!" A voice harshly whispers. Somebody is shaking me awake.
I open my eyes to see Joel. He looks very stressed.
"Joel?" I mutter, still half asleep but relieved that the 'ground swallowing me up' thing was a dream.
"Are you okay? You were crying out!" Joel exclaims but quietly.
I nod. "Just a nightmare." I say, a little shaken up.
"Okay, are you sure you're okay?" He hesitates.
"Umm, I think so." No. I'm not okay. The underground is my worst fear. I hate caves. I hate the tube. I hate high ceilings. Anything that can potentially crush me is terrifying.
"Alright, night Calla." Joel takes his hands off my shoulders and begins to move away when I catch his arm.
"Can you stay?" Even I can't believe I said those three words. I must sound like a toddler who can't sleep without a nightlight.
Joel hesitates. "Calla, I won't fit." He chuckles.
"Please." I push. I'm shaken up and stressed, my breathing ragged, my body trembling.
Joel smiles, returning to my hammock. "It'll be a tight squeeze." He warns.
"I don't mind."
Joel chuckles once more before clambering in beside me into my painfully small hammock.
I rest my head against his chest as he wraps his arms around my shoulders.
After a few minutes of silence, Joel whispers, "Better?"
"Better." I yawn in response, closing my eyes and drifting off to sleep.
When I wake, the camp is silent, the only sound is Joel's ragged breathing and the occasional snore from Jordan.
Having two people in my tiny hammock is tight, but because I'm so short it probably makes it easier.
I rest my head back on his chest and wrap my arms around his torso just as his arm moves around my waist, his thumb moving in circular motions. I lift up my head to see a wide awake Joel, staring up into the trees.
When he notices me staring, he looks back down. "Morning."
"Morning." I reply in a whisper. "Did I wake you?"
"I was about to ask you the same thing." Joel chuckles. "No, I've been awake for quarter of an hour." He yawns before continuing. "I didn't want to move you, you looked so comfortable."
I feel my cheeks flush.
"It's so quiet without Ad and Martin." I gush.
Joel nods. "I miss them though. Hopefully this whole throne thing will be over with today."
I agree. Fingers crossed.
It's midday when Ant and Dec appear in camp, offering a lucky two the chance to steal two thrones off the royals. Joel immediately wants to go, saying its been a while since he's left camp.
"Calla, you come too!" He grins with excitement.
I shake my head. "I'm not really feeling it today, I did a trial yesterday."
