Burned Out Flames

Chapter 5

" Get your ass in the bed ". Such a polite way to ask. " Well maybe if you ask nicely I might consider sleeping with the devil ". He raised an eyebrow.

" First, I asked nicely like 500 times and second , sleeping ? So what I'm hearing is you want me to stay the night with you ".

" The last thing I would want to do is sleep next to you ", I crossed my arms. He then rolled his eyes , " Fine , can you please get in bed so we can watch the movie ". I suppose I'll lay next to him , standing takes up a lot of energy.

" Ok Ok ", I said and got comfortable next to him but I made sure to keep some space in between. He played the movie once we got comfortable and I noticed he didn't mind the space I left between us. Not saying I want him close to me or anything but I expected him to make some slick remark about how we're too far away from each other.

I can't seem to concentrate on the movie simply because it isn't as interesting as it sounded and because my little acquaintance here snores in his sleep. I figured I'll just let him rest and turned the movie off along with the tv and put a pillow in between us just in case he get any ideas in the middle of the night.

But that didn't seem to work , he tossed and turned all night as I tried to sleep and I was about two seconds away from kicking him out. Eventually he grabbed the pillow I had between us and threw it on the ground. Poor pillow. " Why is there a pillow between us ? ". " What pillow ? ", I narrowed my eyes at him. " The one I just threw on the ground ". " I want my own space and you'll have yours ". " Oh ". He sat up and rubbed his eyes.

" I'll leave then ", he got up and put his shoes back on then turned to look at me as I stared back and after what felt like forever he got up and walked out the door. It was kind rude of him to not say good night so after the two minute argument I had with myself I got out of bed and rushed towards the door and opened it to see my acquaintance standing there. I was expecting him to be walking to his dorm but he was right here staring down at me. " You left without saying- ". " Good night ? ", he raised his eyebrows. " Yeah ".

" And you came after me because you wanted to say good night ? ".

" Yeah ".

" And because you missed my company ? ".

" Yeah , no ".

" It was worth a shot ". I just shrugged and yawned. " Good night ". " Good night ". I closed the door satisfied and grabbed my pillow off the ground and cuddled it as I got into bed and slept peacefully.

" So you're giving him a second chance ? ", my best friend asked. I looked at her and blinked , does she even listen to me anymore ? " No , I already told you ". " Why not ? I thought you believed in second chances ". " Yeah, but not everyone deserve second chances ".

She sighed and rolled her eyes ," Sis , I need you to put down those walls you put up and see the world ". " I seen it and I don't like it ". " Have you seen the whole world ? ". " No ". " Exactly knock them down and catch some sunshine in your life , always grouchy ".

" I am not ", I argued.

" What you really need is some- ".

" I do not ". But then again...

" I'm just messing with you girl but seriously you don't have to be afraid ", She started walking away. To where ? I have no idea. " Afraid of what ? ", I yelled.

" To feel , Afraid to feel! ", She yelled back.

What she said was right but that doesn't mean I'll listen. He gained my trust , my loyalty , my love , my soul and everything else. I put my everything into that relationship and all in one day it came crashing down and I was pushed aside as if I didn't matter anymore. I don't want to feel that way again, I don't want to feel like I'm nothing. Can you blame me ?
