With You its like Magic ~ A Newt Scamander Story

Chapter 2

  Waking up, I notice that Sarah is just about half way of her book. She sets it down after she notices I'm awake.

  "Hey sleepy head. You were sleeping so long that we're almost there" she continues, "I also didn't know what you wanted from the trolley so I got you a chocolate frog, I thought you might like the little card inside."

  She tosses it to me and I catch it with a "Thanks."

  Still half awake, I begin opening the frog. That is until I look out the window and see a beautiful castle emerging to view. I stare out the window starstruck and Sarah just smirks.

  " I can't believe we're actually going to attend Hogwarts" I start. " I know, it seems so unrealistic." Sarah finishes.

  The train comes to a halt and that's when everyone starts exiting. I heard that only the 1st years take the boats to the castle, but since we're also new, will be joining them on the boats as well. Sarah is in the same boat as me of course. We sit next to each other and we take off. The water is so dark and silvery in the moonlight that it casts a beautiful, mysterious glow on us. I've never seen anything more beautiful, until we actually arrive in front of the castle.

  There we overhear some of the other American transfers saying we'll be sorted in new houses, even though we'll be here for a year. I wonder if we get sorted by a wooden statue as well, like at Ilvermorny. There I was sorted into Puckwudgie and Sarah into Thunderbird.

  Upon entering the castle, we meet blonde, blue eyed girl around our age wearing a black and blue robe. Slowly, she approaches us with a smile which we return.

  "'Ello mates are you the new American lot?" she asks, to which we nod in return. "Fabulous. My name is Tiv and I'm a Ravenclaw."

  To which I reply, "Ravenclaw?! As in Rowena Ravenclaws house?"

  "That is correct." Tiv responds.

  After that Tiv goes on to explain the other 3 houses. There's Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin. She also asks us questions about Ilvermorny to which we both, gladly answer.

  "So what's the sorting ceremony like here 'cause back at Ilvermorny there was this golden knot we had to step on where 4 wooden statues would respond if they wanted us in their house." Sarah says. To which Tiv responds with, "Well that's completely different than here. Everyone gathers in the Great Hall and the 1st years line up to get called on to wear a magical sorting hat that decides your house for you."

  Both me and Sarah respond with a nod of understanding and curiosity. We all keep talking about our 2 different schools while Tiv gives us a somewhat tour of the castle until she shouts, "Merlins beard! The sorting ceremony is about to begin. Follow me quickly." To which we proceed to do.

  Before entering, Tiv leads us to the nearest bathroom to freshen up a bit. After we're done we enter the Great Hall just in time, with the others. As soon as we entered, I am once again starstruck and so is Sarah. The roof is scattered in floating candles and mimics the night sky which is just awe striking. The room is also adjourned with 4 long vertical tables and 1 long horizontal table at the head of the hall.

  "Well it looks like I should join my housemates now. Bye! Hope to see you lot in Ravenclaw." and with that, she departed.

  The headmaster decided that all the 1st years will be sorted before the transfers. That being said, Sarah and I were towards the back, holding hands to calm our nerves.

  "Hey Sarah?" I asked.

  "Hmm?" she hums

  "What house do you think we'll be sorted in? Do you think this time, we'll finally be in the same house?" I bombarded.
