After two (three?) weeks of me not updating, here's a new chapter. It's 6.2k so grab some snacks and enjoy.

I really hope you all think this was worth the wait.

The deep bass from the stereo could be heard from outside the school. A sleek looking black limo pulled up outside the school, holding Jackson and Jinyoung inside. Once the vehicle stopped, Jackson got out and walked to the other side of the limo to open the door for his date. Jinyoung showed a shy smile and shakily got out.

Nervous was an understatement to how the nerdy boy felt. What was he even going to do once inside? There were going to be a lot of people. People of which he didn't like and people that didn't like him. He wanted to have a good time with Jackson but how was he going to do that with his negative thoughts eating him alive?

"Hey," A smooth voice cut through his thoughts. "We're gonna have fun tonight, alright." Jackson smiled.

Jinyoung nodded as Jackson led the way up to their school's entrance. Both boys walked side by side. Jinyoung counting each step he took forward in his head. It was a useless distraction he did whenever he was nervous. He would count anything; the number of steps it took to get somewhere, the number of lines on a piece of notebook paper or even how many times his heart would beat in a minute. He knew it was dumb but it calmed him down and that's all that mattered.

A soft palm made contact with his own before lacing their fingers together. Jinyoung looked down at the hand intertwined with his own already feeling his cheeks heat up. He trailed his vision upward, following the muscular arm connected to the hand being held in his own, only to see Jackson smiling sheepishly at him.

He stopped counting.

A few more stops and they were at the front door and Jinyoung didn't know how many steps it took. He didn't care either. He didn't want to know.

"Are you ready to experience your first prom Jinyoung?" Jackson asked, smile showing how hard it was from him to contain his excitement.

Jinyoung squeezed his hand in confirmation, biting his lip and nodding. Whether there were going to be people here he didn't want to see or not, he knew he was going to have a good time as long as Jackson was with him. With that thought in mind, both boys walked inside, hand in hand.

Halfway through their night, Jackson said he would be right back (he desperately needed to use the restroom). Jinyoung nodded and used the time to admire the decorations. He really enjoyed the fake snow that was dusted with glitter and the snowflakes that dangled from the ceiling. They were simple decorations but they didn't look as cheap as they probably were.

Jinyoung was smiling to himself, not caring how the people around him may have thought he was strange. Being with Jackson gave him confidence in himself. He made him feel like he didn't have to explain himself to anyone. What people thought about you didn't matter, what you thought of yourself is what truly mattered.

The fake snow was too tempting not to touch. Jinyoung walked over and let his fingers run over the soft cotton. His arm moved back and forth almost as if he was petting a small dog. The feeling of the fake snow was almost tingly against his finger tips. He thought it was strange that the cotton felt cold, as if he was touching real snow. He retracted his hand thinking if he played with the snow any longer the prom committee would get angry with him for ruining all their hard work.

Little flecks of silver and different shades of blue glitter were stuck to his hand. He enjoyed them as pretty little decorations but not on himself. Jinyoung picked off the pesky pieces of glitter while thinking about how they shined almost as much as Jackson's smile. Nothing was as bright as Jackson's smile in Jinyoung's eyes.
