I still remember that day

2nd April,2011 : The India vs Sri Lanka match

Though I suck at history, but this date seems to have an exceptional case. How couldn't it?

The first world cup I saw, and the one it which India won.
________

Sitting in the family couch, everyone together tight, hands joined, hooting for India, cheering and keeping our fingers crossed.

That was the day when Sachin was playing his last world cup. The day all eyes were filled with tears seeing the God of cricket smash Hits fit the last time in world cup. It was saddened and emotional.

They say when one king steps down, the other descends him and takes the crown; and it happened as said.

A young boy, fresh out of the under 19 team came in the field. The boy not many were aware of, nor was I.

He looked funny to me, funny cute cheeks and spiked hair with medium height, entering the field to take on the crown.

It was good going partnership between him and Gambhir and Hopes had gone up to take that trophy home again, but Kohli got out at 35.

Dhoni owned that match, and there's no denial to that. But that match gave India a new hero, a new king.

To be honest I didn't like him at first, nor did I hated him, it was neutral. But i don't know how it all happened.

Slowly slowly as the time passed (years!) the neutral changed to like to infatuation to obsession to love. The Delhi boy grew up into a handsome Gentleman and along with that grew my love and respect for him. And it grows everyday :)

Here was my journey of being a Viratian summed up, a beautiful journey full of lessons and emotions and loads of love 💖

A/N: sudden urge to write this. Christmas vibes maybe🎅

Please reply honestly
