I opened my eyes to the annoying sound of my alarm going off. As I looked out the window I saw the cold fog invading my usual view of New York, I then proceeded to turn off the alarm on my phone and immediately got up and took a shower. As I was getting ready, my chest and head started pounding in a mix of excitement and nervousness for the day ahead but my train of thought got quickly interrupted due to the sound of my phone going off somewhere in my bed, I quickly searched the covers for it and answered.
"Hi mom" I said while walking towards the kitchen to make myself some breakfast
"How are you feeling?"
"Great...I mean I'm nervous but I'm excited you know?" I said while I poured myself a cup of coffee and took a big sip
"You'll do great and everybody will love you"
"I doubt that mom"
"Well maybe not love you but they will love your work, you're brilliant honey"
"Thanks mom, hey I'm on my way out now but how about I call you when I'm done"
"Sounds great"
"Bye love you"
"Love you too and you'll do great don't worry"
It had been a little over 3 weeks after I had received the offer at Pearson Specter Litt and after thoroughly going through the contract and giving notice at my firm, it was finally time for me to be introduced at the partners meeting and getting started at my new job. As always I was dressed impeccably, today with a loose cream blouse, a dark aubergine pencil skirt, matching Manolos and my beige Antigona to pull it all together. I finished my coffee, brushed my teeth, took my purse and keys and I was on my way to my new workplace.

According to Jessica I would be introduced at the biannual partners meeting. She also mentioned that one of the name partners got to name a new member of the firm every meeting, meaning I would be her pick for the year. Since it would be her turn to hire, Jessica told me she would be introducing me as a surprise to the whole team which translated to keep your mouth shut about this or you'll ruin it a.k.a she wanted strict silence until the big reveal. To me that meant that neither Harvey nor anyone else would know about today and I would be lying if I said I wasn't curious to see the surprised expression in Harvey's face specifically. We hadn't spoken since our last heated encounter and I was looking forward to his reaction. I arrived to the office at the time agreed, Jessica's personal assistant was waiting for me in the reception and as soon as I walked in she walked me to the conference room where the meeting was already taking place.
I stood at the door nervously, Jessica quickly noticed my presence and gestured to me through the glass walls of the conference room indicating I should come in. I took a deep breath, rested my purse on my elbow and walked straight into the conference room with a confident smile on my face.
"And as you know I am announcing my pick for the new junior partner which is right on time" I heard as I pushed the glass door and made my entrance in the room "I am proud to introduce to you Amelia Lewis our new junior partner" I smiled at Jessica and turned my gaze to everyone else at the table giving a quick scan to every member sat at the table, of course I crossed looks with Harvey and by the few seconds that we locked eyes I could see his jaw tensing and his eyes widen before giving me an intense stare "Would you like to introduce yourself?" Jessica asked
"Of course" I said as I took one step forward at the head of the crowded table "first of all I want to thank Ms. Pearson and the firm for this opportunity" I gave her a genuine smile "as she said my name is Amelia Lewis I am a Harvard lawyer like all of you, I previously worked at Sternberg Johnson here in the city, I am looking forward to working at this firm and increasing our client portfolio"
"We are very happy to hear that Ms. Lewis" Jessica said "I want to thank all of you for coming and without any further business on the agenda let's all get to work I'm sure we're all busy" she said giving a conclusion to the meeting by closing the binder in front of her
The rest of the partners followed suit and started standing up from the table. I again thanked Jessica for the opportunity before being interrupted by none other than Louis Litt.
"Ms. Lewis it is very nice to meet you"
"Likewise Mr. Litt I am very happy to be working next to the person who busted my non compete wide open" I extended my arm and shook his hand firmly
"Thank you very much" he had a quick shy laugh "I'm sure you'll get used to Pearson Specter Litt in no time"
"I'm sure I will but please call me Amelia" I gave him a warm smile
"Well I have to go now but a pleasure to meet you Amelia...." he was interrupted by a third person joining our conversation
"Leaving already Louis? Are you going mudding? Or wait let me guess you have an appointment with your cat dentist."
"Harvey" Louis said in an irritated tone as I tried to keep my facial expression as serious as possible "already making me look bad in front of our new attorney"
"Oh you do that all by yourself"he padded Louis' back lightly
"As I was saying Amelia" Louis said ignoring Harvey's remarks "it was a pleasure meeting you but I must go WORK now" he said emphasizing those last words and looking angrily at Harvey before leaving the conference room which was now almost empty except for Harvey and I
