Chapter 17

Ava's pov.

James will be here in 2 hours and I'm gonna surprise him with my homemade lasagna that he likes so much. He still has to finish work so I'm good. I quickly made my table and cleaned up my apartment a little and of course made my lasagna.

I heard my front door open meaning James was here. 

"What smells so good?" James asked walking in and rubbing his stomach.

"Your favorite lasagna" I said pecking his lips.

"Really?" 

"Yup"

"Yes!" He said fist pumping the air.

"Actually it just finished so perfect timing Honey"

"Awesome"

"Go sit down at the table and I'll get you a piece"

"Okay" He said looking happy.

He sat down at the table, while I pulled out the lasagna from the oven. I cut him a piece and me a piece and then I grabbed forks and napkins and put them on the table. As soon as James got his lasagna he dug in.

"Slow down Tiger" I said chuckling.

"Sorry it's just so fucking good"

"Well it better be that shits hard to make"

"Really?"

"No"

"Oh" 

I chuckled and took a bite of my lasagna.

"So how was work?" I asked looking at James.

"Eh it was okay I guess, how was your work today"

"It was good I only had to work for two hours but I got a new client which is nice"

He nodded and smiled.

"Hey James I have a question?"

"Sure what's up?"

"Do you like your job?"

"Honestly...I hate it"

"Then why don't you just quit and do something you like?"

"I don't know"

"Okay" I said confused, but I decided to ignore it.

We continued eating and we changed the subject to something about squids.

I don't even know.

Once we finished eating we went to my living room to watch TV, we chose to watch 50 First Dates. So that's what we're doing right now.

"Cutie?" James asked looking at me.

"Yeah?"

"Do you ever think about the future?"

"About the future?"

"Yeah"

"No not really do you?" I asked pausing the movie.

"All the time it scares me...I'm scared Ava"

"What are you scared of?"

"Many things like what if I go bankrupt what if my parents disown me for some reason and what if I loose you...Ava I can't loose you" He said looking sad.

I got off the couch and got on the floor on my knees in front of him. I grabbed his face in between my two hands, and I looked him in the eyes.

"James I use to worry about the future all the fucking time, and do you know what that did for me?" He shook his head no. "It slowed me down it made me get into drinking and drugs, it scared the absolute shit out of me. I remember one night when I was 18 and I was thinking about my mom, there was one thing she always said that I never listened to, but I wish I did back then, I do now though. She would always say to live in the present or your gonna forget the future even came. James if I would've listened to that sooner I might have never got into drinking. I drank and took drugs so that way I could forget about everything so that way I wouldn't have to worry about it, that didn't work out so well" I huffed shaking my head trying to erase the memories.
