Amberley Axel sat in math class with an overly enthusiastic smile plastered across her face, her wide eyes focused on the teacher, her mind off somewhere over the rainbow.

She tucked a strand of white hand behind her ear, and her hand trailed down to the inside of her pocket, where her phone was carefully concealed, her earbuds trailing up her back and hidden behind her ears - a trick she would be forever grateful to YouTube for.

She knew that with her fall exams coming up later that month she should probably be paying more attention, but, in all honesty, she couldn't care less. After all, what use will it be for an artist to know how to calculate the volume of a sphere later in life?

Exactly.

Amberley let out a sigh as her teacher continued to drone on. She looked out the window longingly, watching as the mid autumn leaves fluttered slowly to the ground, and her fingers itches to sketch it all out.

"MISS AXEL!" Amberley's head jerked ahead to where she saw her math professor, Mr. Nakovick, glaring down at her. She tried for a smile.

"Yes, sir?"

"And what, exactly is the formula used to measure the volume of a sphere?" Her teacher asked her, hands on his hips. All eyes were on her as Amberley racked her brain for an answer, yet came up with nothing.

"Um...... I think your shirt is pretty?" She said questioningly. Several students behind her stifled giggles. Mr. Nakovick peered down at her, barely concealing a smile of his own.

"Nice try, Miss Axel. Detention, today and tomorrow after school until 4 o'clock. And if you bring your earbuds into class one more time, they will be confiscated.

Amberley choked down a moan. Another detention? It wasn't her fault that she didn't gave a rat's but on the volume of a stupid sphere!

At precisely 4 o'clock, Amberley exited her detention with a smile of relief on her face, only to have it dissolve into a frown as she saw her younger brother, Addison, standing across the hall with a disappointed look on his face. Amberley quickly replenished her grin, though, as she waved him over.

"What's up, little bro?" She called out as her brother walked towards her. Addison let out a groan.

"For the last time, Amberley. We're twins."

"Yeah, well, I came out three minutes before you, so therefore I am older, and you are younger."

"It says twins on our records!"

"Oh, lighten up, Addie." Amberley shoulder bumped her twin. "Don't be so serious all the time." Addison gave her a dirty look.

"I told you to stop calling me that - it sounds like a girl's name. And besides, you're the one who should be more serious. Honestly, Am. It's only October - how have you already had 22 detentions?"

"It's not my fault that I don't give a rat's ass what the teachers are saying!" She protested. Addison gave her a look of warning.

"Watch your language - and you should care! This stuff may apply to you later in life, you know." Amberley rolled her eyes.

"Yes. All those times I will need to calculate the volume as a sphere as an artist. "

"Oh yeah? Well, what if you're drawing an apple?" Addison challenged.
