Addison's head was pounding and his heart was beating as he struggled to sit up. As he blinked the sleep out of his eyes and began to take in his surroundings, he only had one question in mind:
Where was he?
But slowly, as he finally shook the remaining fogginess from his head, he began to remember the past weeks' events, and came to terms with why he wasn't at home , safe in his bed.
Addison bolted upright and looked around wildly. He appeared to be in either a basement, or an extremely spacious storage closet. There was a broom on his right side, and a lol and bucket on his left. It was dark, and he couldn't see further than 5 or so feet ahead of him. As a matter of fact, he could barely see anything.....
Addison crawled around on the floor, frantically reaching for anything that might be a pair of glasses. He was just about to give up when he placed his knee down in the floor, and heard a loud crunch.
"No!" Addison cried, and jerked his knee away to reveal a pair of snapped glasses, and the remains of the lenses.
"Oh, man......" He moaned, and put his head in his hands and rested them on his knees, and began to cry.
It was too much. First he lost his parents, then he discovers and entirely new side of their life, then he gets kidnapped and separated from his twin sister, and now he was sitting in the basement of an unknown building, an ocean away from his home.
"Addison?" A heart achingly familiar voice called out to him, and he turned to see Sienna's familiar face, bags under her eyes and skin grayish from the amount of time she'd spent away from sun.
"Mom!" Addison cried, and crawled over to the women, and wrapped her in a hug.
"Oh, Addison, you amazing, ingenious, stupid boy...." Sienna stroked his hair. "What where you thinking, crossing the ocean to try and save us? You should have left this to USHO! You do know about USHO, don't you?" Sienna held her adoptive son at arms' length.
"Yeah, mom. I know about USHO. I know everything -Uncle Oak told us. Why didn't you tell us anything?"
Sienna sighed. "Honey, there are so many questions of yours that U would love to answer right now, but we don't have the time. Now, where's your sister?"
Addison's eyes prickled with tears at the thought of Amberley. "I don't know . We got separated shortly after we entered the city, and...." Addison's voice trailed off as Sienna pulled him close again.
"Oh, Addison...." Sienna pulled him close again. "I need you to listen to me. Do you have your phone on you?"
Addison nodded and pulled it out, checking the battery - 11%. Sienna nodded.
"That's good. Now, I need you to send a message to your sister. I need you to tell her that we are in the basement of Grimm Headquarters, located in the heart of the city. Tell her to watch out for Evelynn Grimm - she probably will try and get the password to the USHO bank vaults from her, and obviously, Amberley won't be able to give it to her. And if you can, please tell her that we love her."
Addison finished typing the message and hit sends. He'd never know if it had gone through, because at that moment, his phone screen turned pitch black as it died, killing the only light in the room.
Addison and Sienna sat in silence for a while after that, until a thought occurred to him.
"Where's Kathryn?" He asked, unable to see his other parent. Sienna frowned.
"Oh, she's right behind me, sleeping." She said, and added as an afterthought. "Where are your glasses?"
"Um....." Addison paled. He fidget with the hem of his shirt and peered down at the floor nervously. He hadn't said anything, but his silence got the message across to Sienna.
"Oh." She sighed, but she wasn't truly upset - now wasn't really the time. "Well I suppose we'll just have to get you new ones when we get home." She said firmly.
They sat in silence for the next hour - for what was there to say.
Addison was just beginning to try and come up with a new topic for conversation, and was just debating telling Kathryn, who had woken within the past 30 minutes, about Amberley's hair, when the door swung open to reveal a tall, female figure.
Addison looked up at her with a mix of curiosity, fear, and bemusement.
The woman was tall, a fake blonde, and sported a fake tan that was simply too dark for October. She was dressed up way too much for not gong anywhere in a sleek red gown, and was wearing enough makeup and jewelry for a small village.
Addison wasn't sure what to think.
"Er..... hello?" He asked, and shifted into a sitting position.
"Don't talk to me, you little brat." The woman snapped, and walked into the room. Addison flinched slightly, and Kathryn began to struggle to her feet.
"Don't talk to my-" the woman began, but Sienna placed a hand on her arm, effectively silencing her.
Evelyn looked at the group with a feeling of pride - she couldn't believe her scheme had gone so well!"
"Welcome to the party, Addison! I'm so glad you could make it! We're just waiting on that pesky sister of yours." She chirped, and gave a small, fake laugh.
"Gee, thanks." He said sarcastically, and folded his arms.
"You're welcome!" Evelyn said happily.
"So, I know you're pretty young, so you're probably pretty stupid." Evelyn began, directing her attention towards the child.
"So in case you didn't know, I'm Evelyn Grimm and I kidnapped you and your parents!" Evelyn extended a perfectly manicured finger to each person she spoke about to.Addison gave a fake gasp and placed a hand over his heart.
"No me diga!" He exclaimed with mock surprise. Evelyn looked around."Doggies? Where?!" She turned her head from side to side.
"I-nevermind." Addison sighed, finding it hard to believe that this bumbling, babbling blonde with the apparent mental capacity of a two year old had kidnapped not only him, but his parents too.
She continued to babble on about how vital kidnapping them was to getting into USHO, and the money USHO had in the bank, and blah, blah, blah.
Addison sighed and leaned back. He began to pray;
Please, oh please, Amberley, get us out of here.
