"Where are we going?" A disgruntled Amberley asks as their Uncle Okieriete pulls each twin along by an arm. They had been trekking the city streets for an hour, and while Amberley truly had no idea where they were going, she could make out Time Square in the distance.
"I told you, Amberley. I can't tell you that." Uncle Oak slowly seemed to be losing his patience with the girl as the trio kept walking briskly. Amberley pulled away and folded her arms.
"Then I'm not taking another step." She replied stubbornly, and sat right down onto the sidewalk. Okieriete groaned internally.
"Amberley, do you want to save Kathryn and Sienna or not?" Addison asked her, hands on his hips.
"I do, I just want to know how we plan on saving them! Hell, we don't even know that they're in any real danger!"
"Admit it, Amber! Something is wrong, and we need to help!"
"Well what if I don't want to help, you stupid sphere-head!" Amberley shot back.
Okieriete opened his mouth to question the comment but quickly closed it again - he probably didn't even want to know.
But as the twins turned away from each other and refused to move, he finally relented.
"How about this: I'll tell you guys where we're going if you two get up and keep walking?" He offered, straining to salvage his last bit of patience.
"Fine." They grumbled in unison - something Oak had never gotten used to - and the trio continued on their way.
"So where are we going?" Amberley asked curiously.
"We're going to M&M World." Okieriete told the girl, and her eyes almost instantly lit up at the prospect as she skipped ahead. Addison looked skeptical.
"Why are we shopping for candy when our parents are in danger?" He asked. Amberley turned around and patted her brother on the head.
"Hush, now, Addison. Okieriete clearly knows what he's talking about."
Time Square was busy as it always was late at night, but somehow the three managed to weave through the crowd without any major issues.
As they entered the store, Amberley turned around with a happy look on her face.
"Alright." She clasped her hands together. "How much candy can we get?"
"Um......" Okieriete knew that the twins didn't know of their parents true identities, but he also knew that Amberley and Addison were smart, and he would have to be careful getting
them to follow him."Let's start with the dark green ones over there." Okieriete pointed to a dark, lonely corner of the store. "Those are my favorite."
Amberley gave her brother a confused look. What was going on?
But Addison only shrugged, and faithfully followed their uncle. Still skeptical, Amberley followed behind.
She watched with great confusion as Okieriete looked around briskly, as to make sure they weren't being watched.
Then, with one swift movement, he turned the lever for the M&M machine down and to the left, and, much to the shock of the twins, the platform beneath their feet began to turn, until they were facing the part of the store behind the M&M machines, where they stored the refills."Sweet!" Amberley shouted and went to take a step forward. But before her foot even touched the ground, the platform beneath them opened up into the longest twisty slide Amberley had ever seen.
As they traveled beneath the store, Amberley thought about their current predicament. But the more she thought about it, the more questions she had. And the more questions she had, the more confused she became.
