Kathryn peered around the room wearily, blinking the wink of sleep she had gotten during her time as a prisoner out of her eyes. Her and her spouse's body were frail with famine - the little water they had received was long gone, and their food was minimal.
The chain around her waist that kept her trapped rubbed achingly against her skin, leaving it red and bruised. In other words, they were in bad shape.
She turned her aching neck to the side where Sienna lay, asleep. Her dark hair fanned around her like a fern and was laid against a mop.
They had been trapped inside the basement for over a week now - surely someone had noticed their disappearance? Surely someone from USHO would come for them?
Kathryn's mind drifted to that of her children. Sweet, smart, innocent Addison and bold, brave, creative Amberley. Though they may not have realized it, each were geniuses in their own way. Addison, who was accepted into Mensa at the age of ten, and Amberley, with her quick tongue, furry personality, and such an admirable passion for the arts.
Kathryn closed her eyes, filled with longing to be one big, happy, crazy family again. She pressed her hand to her pocket, where a photo of the four of them had passed security. It had been taken on a vacation in Botswana, the four of them laughing at the rowdy group of kids in the background. She pulled it out and stared at it for a while, silent, remembering.
But then it was all brought to an end with the sound of expensive Gucci heels clicking against the wooden floors. Kathryn furiously shoved the photo back in her pocket as the door slammed, revealing their blond captor, dressed to the nines in a blue, clingy dress and matching heels, diamonds spilling over her neck, ears, arms, head, and torso, making her only slightly less difficult to look at than the sun.
Sienna began to stir from the commotion and, recognizing the blond witch, promptly turned back on her side and closed her eyes again.
Evelyn narrowed her eyes at this personal insult, amazing a kick at the woman's lower back, the same place she had aimed for the last time. And the time before that. And the time before that.
When, oh when would these intolerably infuriating prisoners learn their place?
Fixing her face into a dumb, blonde, serene smile. Evelyn held a large, sleek iPad to which Sienna finally turned all the way over and raised an eye to.
"What, do you need us to teach you how to play flappy bird now?" She asked sarcastically, remembering the socialite's visit from a few days ago, involving Kathryn showing the ditz how to "Turn selfie mode on and off."
Evelyn glared. "No. I came here because I thought you would like an update on your dear, sweet children." She flashed an innocent smile.
Kathryn's heart plummeted. What had this monster done? Were her children here? Dead? Alive? Dying? Back home? At headquarters? A million thoughts raced through her head before Sienna finally asked the one she truly need an answer to.
"Are they alright?!" Her voice was frantic and panicked.
Evelyn's Cheshire Cat grin widened.
"See for yourself." She said, and hit play."..... Unidentified couple said to have broken into M&M world last night at around 2 AM, and although they were said to be armed it appears that no one was harmed in the chase that took place later on, nor did the rebellious duo take anything. Photos display the two, seemingly in their early teens, the girl with an excessive amount of white makeup and hair dye and the boy-"
Kathryn turned away, unable to take anymore as she held back tears and saw Sienna doing the same. From what she could gather, Oak had brought them to Headquarters, obeying Sienna and Kathryn's wishes. The two had snuck out, and were now wanted criminals - all for their sake. All their fault.
All my fault, she thought as one tear broke the barrier, trailing down Sienna's pale face. But she had to remain strong, confident, and most of all, she had to have hope. Because her kids were not idiots. They were smart, and it was all she could do to pray for their safety with each waking hour, and for their protection.
Seemingly pleased, Sienna heard the click click click of heels on wood as Evelyn left the room.
But despite all the hell and horror happening around her, both Sienna and Kathryn could help but be feel a tiny bit of pleasure, because they both knew, at least someone was on their way.
A/N: Not a twin chapter, but I also felt very inspired to write this, so there ya have it! Also, I'd like to apologize for the slower than expected updates. I honestly have no excuse aside from lack of inspiration and laziness.
