TW bullying and homophobia slurs. Stay Strong.
Everybody knew how life and love worked and how the two were connected. You live your life to find your soulmate or you didn't. Some people would be searching their whole life to find their other half and not live life to the fullest.
'Those people are quite desperate for love. The feeling. I don't need anyone. I don't need love, I need color.' Tyler always thought ever since the incident that happened when he was 10 years old.
You see, the thing is once you find your soulmate, you gain the ability to see color. And that's all Tyler really cared about. During his younger years of age, he didn't have much friends. Actually... he really didn't have any friends in elementary or middle school. He was bullied for liking boys.
One time at the school play ground, back in the 4th grade, he confessed to a boy who was 13, three years older than Tyler. He walked to the area of the school playground where David and a group of his friends would hang out. It was hidden behind the slides and under the shade that was provided by the trees.
"D-David.. I, uh I" Tyler said gaining the attention from the boy and his friends that surrounded him. Tyler cleared his throat. "David I have so-something to tell y-you. Tyler said now messing with a loose thread of his favorite pull-over and rocking on the heels of his feet. "P-privately, pl-please."
"I'm busy playing a game. Tell me here."
Tyler looked up and his cheeks stared burning up even more.
"Oh come on Tyler. Its not like you're confessing your undying love for me." David laughed out.
Tyler gulped trying to swallow the lump that formed in his throat but it didn't go away. He started pulling the thread even more and looked down to the ground. "T-Th-that's just it, Da-vid. I umm.. I like you. L-like, like like you." Tyler said the last sentence, each word getting quieter and softer.
The air filled with silence.
"Disgusting."
Tyler looked up with widen eyes, his breathing picking up as a response to David's word that changed Tyler.
"Oi, this fag has a crush on David." "Gross." "That's sickening, I just might vomit." "He's going to hell for liking a man." And other harsh sayings were being exchanged by David's friends.
Tyler began shaking his head. 'No. It- it's not supposed to be like his.' Tyler thought. Tears began to develop in his eyes as he started backing up slowly.
"Maybe David is gay too." "Ew, David! You're into boys?"
"No! Like I said, that's disgusting!" David shouted back at two of his friends. "I'm not a disgrace like him!"
"Prove it!" Another boy shouted. "Teach him a lesson!"
Without hesitation, David grabbed Tyler by his sweater collar and pinned him against a tree. He started to punch Tyler where ever his fists landed. Two other boys joined David only to push Tyler back against the tree when ever he tired to run past. After the first half-dozen of hits, Tyler gave up on defending himself and sank to the ground. David got in two kicks before the two other boys pulled Tyler to his feet and held him for David to do one final punch to Tyler's jaw. The boys started running once they saw a teacher heading their direction.
Pain was all that Tyler felt as he was left on the ground. Pain. Everywhere. Broken.
'It hurts. Everything hurts. My face hurts. Love caused this. Love hurts.' Tyler thought as the teacher helped him to his feet. She was saying something to Tyler but all he heard was a high-pitch ringing in his ears and his shaky breathing. He also couldn't really see the teachers' face through his tears. The taste of metal filled his mouth. Looking down, Tyler saw that his favorite pullover was now ruined, painted with his own blood.
'I'll never love.'
