Lydia

The cold winter breeze hit me in my face. The streets were empty, it was Sunday. The stores around the bookstore were closed. Only some mannequins looked like they could  follow the people with their stare eyes.

The twirling of the leaves on the ground left a beautiful sound, a humming sound. A sound that you would normally only find on a 'relaxing music' CD and not casually on the street.

Four days in a row it rained in London. Rainn. Rain. Rain. My mum suspected the climate change but I knew what it really has been. Death Eater were among us. The ministry suggested not to trust anyone, not to go around alone and to make up personal questions if the other person has used polyjuice potions. No matter how scared I was, I didn't want to let the ministry to take over my life. I wouldn't stop living my life, meeting new people and going around by myself.

I always wondered why wizards and witches became Death Eater, it wouldn't be a childhood dream, would it? Maybe it's their background, maybe their family has been on the deep dark side since ages. But either way I would have left my background, my past, at home and start a new life. All because of that evil little cockroach aka Draco Malfoy. He was the only reason I wanted to forget everything, the reason for my new look, the reason I did all of this.

One more time I glanced over to the reflection of myself in a window 'You can do this', I told myself and followed my mum to the car.

"It seems like we will get more rain in the next two weeks. Nothing but rain, but on the other hand you can watch your favourite movie in cinemas now....", a woman's voice on the radio announced, sounding terribly tired, when you consider it was eight O'clock in the morning.

The whole car ride I leant my head on the frosty window and felt like a five-year-old acting like I was in a music video for a deep song like Mad World by Gary Jules. Even though that song is always cheering me up, at least sometimes. The story behind it is just so relatable. We all have been depressed and we all have been at the point of life where we wanted to die, some more than others.

And I would have still been leaning against the window if we didn't arrive and I didn't remember myself to forget the past. A second I let everything back in, one last time I had to shut the backdoor in my mind before could open the door of the dented car.

Narrator

"Goodbye Mum, Goodbye dad", Hermione screamed one last time before entering platform 9 3/4. Like alway, she has been the first one and now had to wait for all of her friends to show up. The first were the Weasleys adding Harry.  A big welcome rung up and everybody fell in each other's arms. The hug between Hermione and Ron was still Awkward. She was still bitter at him for dating Lavander Brown. But the happy atmosphere was necessary, they lived all in crazy times and were more than happy to see that nobody died during the two weeks off.  Although that sounds absurd it was true.

Suddenly everybody including Hermione who has been on her one during the Holiday felt safe n each other's arms. It gave them something like a prophecy that everything will be good and they will fall in each other's arms again when everything is back to normal again.

Lydia used this atmosphere as a benefit to sneak past the group but still hid behind her fresh cut hair. It still did kinda smell like the dyeing product she used, although she has washed her hair more than once. All the hiding was necessary for her new start. She had promised herself to let go of her old friends, without a reason. It already hurt her much to not say at least Hello to one of them but she it would hurt her more to tell them the reasons.

However, Hermione had noticed her and screamed her name but Lydia didn't want to listen she straight accessed the smoky Hogwarts-Express and tried her best to ignore them.

"Strange", Hermione thought out loud, turning her head to Ginny. The confused look on her face was extremely visible, visible enough for Ginny to notice, "What?", she questioned pushing the cart in hands a bit forward. "I thought I saw  Lydia but her hair... It was different. Did she tell you anything?". No, of course, she didn't, she didn't know herself this was going to happen until it did.  Hermione and Ginny decided to run after her, but she lost her after she entered the train. Both girls looked at each other and knew what the other one was thinking, "What was wrong with her?". Neither of them knew exactly what was going on with Lydia but both had a guess: Something happened.

The familiar scent of old furniture and smoke became noticeable as Lydia opened the heavy steel doors to reveal the inner train. A place Lydia almost associated with laughter and happiness but right now she felt nothing but a big black hole of sadness.

The first time she ever entered the Express, she first met Hermione and immediately became one of her friends. And then, a year after Ginny and ever since they would meet each other on the train and share a compartment, talk about boys or homework they had to finish during holidays. In their company Lydia could be herself, the adorable, funny and caring girl. A girl with a whole heart, a heart which didn't break into pieces because of a stupid git who cares more about his reputation than his heart.

One last time she breathed in before making her way to look for a free compartment. Familiar faces pushed themselves past her but stared at her. Her hair attracted attention everywhere she went. Everybody seemed to be drawn by the bold purple like moths were drawn to the flame.

The whispering of the students was plainly hearable, as much as they tried to hide it. positive and negative comments were being made. "This suits her so much", "Why would she do that?", "She used to be so pretty", "I wish I could pull this hair off".  The positive comments which overweighted in the end and Lydia only wanted to care about those at the moment.

"Hey Lydia, nice hair", a boy from Gryffindor yelled at her from behind. It was Seamus, the funny Irish boy who made things explode nobody ever knew could explode. His light blue eyes were fixed on Lydia's. Something that made Lydia extraordinary uncomfortable. "Why don't you sit with us?", he then finally asked. With us, he probably meant him and Dean. Lydia and Dean haven't talked ever since she made him look like a fool. However, after a while, Lydia agreed and followed Seamus to his compartment.

So yay, seamus is one of my favourite characters among the universe of Harry Potter.
