Lydia

There has always been one day I woke up earlier than Hermione and Ginny. On that day I was the first one to get ready and the one who had to wake them up. The waking up part has always been always my favourite.

I didn't wake them up in a usual way, no, I would get myself two bottles of water and pour it out over Ginny's and Hermione's bed. Following them to wake up screaming and Hermione telling me that I just could have used ' Aquamenti'.  Afterwards, I always had to look out for a revenge. They never did something terrible, though.

"LYDIA!!!!", Hermione screamed as she woke up soaking wet, but I just laughed and went on to Ginny's bed. "BLOODY HELL!?", she yelled and burst out in laughter as soon as she saw me. "Watch your back", she said, looking at me with a serious face again, "This time you won't get away this easily! We will find something good this time".

"Try me", I  responded, turning towards the door and left them to be first at breakfast, "I won't wait for you guys, I don't wanna be late. McGonagall is already pissed because ran late 5 out of 7 lessons."

"Wait, why are you the first one?",  Harry chuckled when I sat down in front f him in the great hall. Well, I guess he already knew why I was the first one and just loved to hear the story.

"I was the first one waking up this morning and you know what that means. Also, I don't wanna be late for Transfiguration class". He chuckled again and took a bite of the toast in front of him, "You have Transfiguration with Seamus and Dean, right?". I nodded. I wasn't bad at transfiguration, I just didn't like it. Maybe it has bee this way and not the other way because I was a wimp the first couple years and maybe it was because of Proffesor McGonagall. But I have never had the time to really figure it out.

Somehow, Harry and I spent another ten minutes talking to each other, which was very rare since he was so famous. We stopped our conversation about gnomes as  Hermione and Ginny walked in. Both of them had a huge grin on their faces. "Hello darling", they said almost simultaneously, they were up to no good.

"Your homework until next week will be to write a two-meters long essay on the Bird-Conjuring Charm",  Professor McGonagall announced, making almost every Student in the room groan, only Hermione looked happy and prepared to write an essay, "Bye Lyds, I have to head to Old Runes now. See you". I waved Hermione goodbye and grabbed my stuff, put it in my bag and slowly left the room.

I wasn't rushed, I had yet another free period, again. Just as I left the classroom and was on the long corridor, I saw a blonde figure coming up to me, his hands in a fist. Malfoy.

"Thomson!", he pointed at me with his index finger, "Youll pay for this!". I looked at him in confusion, "I don't know what you're talking about Malfoy?",  I snapped back confidently, rolling my eyes. I have to admit I was very curious about what Malfoy was going to say to me, it was either a lie or something someone out of his pack had told him.

"I know you were out last night! You can't deny it", his stern blue eyes were fixed on mine and shrunk my self-confidence. "Wait how did you know?". He came a bit nearer and the smirk grew bigger and bigger.

"You are lying!"

He came even closer and we were only centimetres apart, "Wait does that mean you...", he cut off and came even closer. I could smell his scent, a mix of peppermint and chocolate. This scent was way too familiar to me.

(Throwback to the first potions lesson)

Slughorn was gesturing to the cauldrons bubbling before him when Harry and Ron rushed in. Slughorn told them to get a book and join us and continued the lesson, "Now, as I was saying, I've prepared a few concoctions this morning. Any ideas what these might be? Yes, Miss...?".

"Granger, sir. That one there is Veritaserum. And that would be Polyjuice Potion. And that...", Hermione said pointing at a magenta coloured potion, " ... is Amortentia! The most powerful love potion in the world. It's rumoured to smell differently to each person, according to what attracts them. For example, I smell freshly mown grass and new parchment and spearmint toothpaste -- ", she stopped and took a step back. "Now don't you all wanna try and tell us what you smell", Slughorn said and regarded Hermione, nodding at her. We built a queue, one after another told the class what they were smelling. It was my turn and I took a step forward the cauldron, "Well, I smell chocolate, peppermint, candle wax and a bit of a scent of hazelnuts". I turned around and walked towards my table.

(End of Throwback)

"What?", he yelled at me, "Just so you know Thomson if you tell anyone I'll tell them too."

I was too shocked to fight back, his head was still only millimetres away from mine, I could feel and hear is breath crashing onto my skin, his eyes were still fixed on mine and his hair tickled my forehead. "How did you know? Were you out too?, I asked trying to sound as confident as before but if the person who is according to Amortentia the perfect match for you, it is hard. "Remember what I told you Thomson", he said moving a bit backwards,"don't tell anyone", with these three words he left me.  My heart was beating fast, I was sweating and my knees felt weak. Draco Malfoy apparently attracted me, the boy who has mocked me the last six years. 'Now you're just dreaming, close your eyes and you'll wake up' I counted 1-2-3 and opened my eyes again, everything was still the same.

Narrator

"How did you know? Were you out too?", she asked shyly, trying to cover her shyness up. She wasn't as confident as before. Her eyes filled with tears. "Remember what I told you Thomson", Draco said moving slowly backwards,"don't tell anyone." He has left her, standing confused, angry and somehow sad. Why did it always have to be the boys she could not have she felt a connection to.

"Get yourself together Draco!", echoed through the corridor, first quietly then louder and louder.

It was Draco himself, who talked to himself. When he came closer to Lydia he could smell a scent of strawberry bonbons, Lydia's favourite. It wasn't the first time Draco has smelled such thing, it was a familiar scent. Back in Slughorns potions class, he smelled it for the first time just like Lydia had smelled the mix of Peppermint and Chocolate.

His hands brushed through his messy hair and a light wind blew across his face. He didn't know what to do anymore. Why did it have to be his enemy? Was it a punishment for all the things he had done to her and everyone else? Or maybe in all those years of hating her, he secretly loved her.

"Why can't I just be happy?", he asked mumbling into his scarf. It had become too much for him, he had a filthy task to fulfil and has girl problems with a girl, he didn't even want to love. All of this put him under a lot of pressure all his decisions could change the world. It depended on him, he could fulfil the task and keep his loved ones alive or he could follow his heart and maybe lose something that means a lot to him.
