(Natsu's POV 2 days later)
I sat at my desk thinking about Luce, she was all I could think about. I could remember her clearly now.
Flashback
"Natsu dear are you still waiting for your brother?" Mrs. Heartfilia asked sweetly.
"Yeah." I answered rubbing the back of my head sheepishly. "He said he won't be able to make it for another hour or so." I said with a fake smile.
"Well then how about this. I know of certain little girl who is quite lonely, would you do me a favor and play with her?" She asked smiling at me.
"Oh um sure I guess." I replied nervously.
She held my hand and took me to the entrance of an enormous beautiful garden. She stopped and looked down at me.
"This little girl means the world to me Natsu, so please take good care of her." She said smiling at me.
"Of course Mrs. Heartfilia." I answered quickly. She smiled at me again the looked out at the garden. She pulled me through the entrance and after another minute or so of walking I saw a little girl come into view. "She's so pretty" I said out loud accidentally. I felt my face heat up immediately. She just giggled.
"Lucy dear, there's someone here who wants to play with you." Mrs. Heartfilia said happily.
The little girl walked over to us and eyes me carefully. I was suddenly aware of how messy my hair was and how dirty I was. Then she giggled. "You're cute!" She said giggling even more. I felt my blush get hotter. "My name is Lucy, want to be friends?" She asked just as sweetly as Mrs. Heartfilia.
I looked at Mrs. Heartfilia who nodded her head.
"Of course!" I said excitedly and stuck out my hand. "My name is Natsu, Natsu Dragneel." She grabbed my hand and pulled me deeper into the garden.
"Let's play a game!" She said excitedly.
"What do you wanna play?" I asked
"Lets play a princess game." She said excitedly. I shrugged my shoulders. Figures since she's a girl and all.
"Okay, I'll be the prince that rescues you from the evil dragon." I said with a smirk on my face. "I could hear Mrs Heartfilia giggle, I turned and looked at her and she was shaking her head. Did I say something wrong? I thought to myself. I looked back at Lucy who had a horrified look on face.
"Dragons aren't evil!" She said with a raised voice. I could hear Mrs. Heartfilia giggle even more. "Dragons are beautiful amazing creatures! It's not their fault that the stupid Prince was jealous of the love that the Princess and the Dragon shared!" She said angrily. "Dragons are loyal, brave, and protective! I would choose a dragon over a prince any day!" She hmph'd. I stood there in shock, I thought dragons were cool, in fact I love dragons. But I was pretty sure all girls wanted to be rescued by a handsome prince.
"Okay then I'll be the fiery dragon who rescues the Princess from the evil prince ." I said smiling. She looked up at me and her chocolate eyes shined brightly.
"Let's go then!" She said excitedly.
After about an hour of playing together Mrs. Heartfilia shouted to us. "Natsu your brother is here."
I really didn't want to leave, but I had to I couldn't make my brother wait long. I sat down on a bench and caught my breath. "Hey I had fun." I said smiling at Lucy.
"Me too" she said blushing. She ran up to me and smiled. She stood there staring at me for a moment, and I stared back at her. Then she quickly leaned in and kissed my cheek. My entire face lit up.
"Goodbye my fearsome Dragon King!" She said smiling as she ran off. I held my cheek and watched as her small figure disappeared further into the garden.
I felt a sudden presence next to me. "I saw that Mr. Dragneel." Mrs. Heartfilia said with a serious face.
"I'm sorry!" I said quickly and nervously.
She kneeled down and ruffled my hair. "Would you like to come back and play with Lucy?" She asked smiling at me. I looked at her confused. "Lucy is a very lonely girl, she has a brother but her father keeps him very busy. She hasn't had the chance to make very many friends, and let's be honest she's a little different as I'm sure you noticed." She said giggling. I couldn't help but laugh too. "But Lucy is a sweet girl, she has a powerful imagination and loves with all her heart. I will let you play with her while you wait for your brother if you promise me something in return." She said looking more serious. I nodded my head. "I want you to promise to protect her. I know that after this year you'll move on in life and you'll grow up, but I have a feeling your paths will cross again in the future. I don't have much time left and I know my husband all too well..." she trailed off for a moment but then giggled. "Natsu, I want you to be her dragon, then, when you cross paths once more." She said with pleading eyes.
"I promise." I said with a big toothy grin. She smiled back at me and then took me to my brother.
***End Flashback***
"Hmm...Dragon eh?" I chuckled softly to myself.
*Ding-dong. My doorbell suddenly rang.
