After the pain subsided Nick scrambled to his feet. His eyes twitched around the room and landed on the solemn window, searching for some evidence to where he was and what had happened. A sudden scraping noise distracted him from his search. The noise came from a section of the bland cement wall sliding slowly to one side. He heard voices coming from the other side.

" you know, we should really upgrade these to move faster." Said high womens voice.

" yeah sure," the other replied, obviously not paying attention.

When the door finally opened two women entered the room. One had vibrant curly red hair, the other straight brown hair.

"Hello Nick," said one with the curly red hair, "my name is Annabel."

"And I am Quincey," said the brunette excitedly.

"How do you know my name? where am I?" Nick asked hoping to finally get answers.

"We know you have lots of questions, but right now we need to take a few tests okay?" said Annabel

Nick nodded, not quiet sure what he should say. Quincey took out a small alcohol wipe, and began to clean his arm. The familiar smell made his nose tingle.

"Look over at the window," said Annabel pointing up in a general location.

Nick obeyed and turned his head. Suddenly he felt a sharp prick. He groaned but made no protest. He knew what they were doing, they were only taking a blood sample, but why? His curiosity grew and he turned and looked. To his surprise the was much different, more high-tech than he had ever seen before.the finished quickly and basically ran from the seen leaving Nick with more questions than

He waited impatiently in the room for what seemed like hours before the door slow leu crept open again.

"What's going on?" Nick asked as soon as the girls came through the door.

"Your blood test came passed negative!" Exclaimed Quincey.

"What's that supposed to mean?" he asked

"I think it's time we told you why your here." answered Annabel, "come with us."

Nick cautiously followed them out of the room and into a long white hall way, one end ending in stairs the other into an intersecting hallway. The small procession, Annabel in the lead chose the stairway. They walked past two landings then entered a small area somewhat like a mini kitchen and living room. It connected smoothly into another white hallway with many simple looking doors.

"You might want to sit down," replied Quincey.

Nick sat down on a big plastic covered sofa. Similarly to the rest of the room, it was white.

"Okay, so we found a way to save a person, specifically a person dying of cancer-" Annabel started, jumping into an explanation,

"I don't have cancer." Stated Nick

"Well, according to our records you, Nicholas Drake Dylan died of cancer."

"Died? But I'm still alive! Look at me I'm right here," he said putting his hand on his chest, almost as if testing he was making sure.

"Yes, but you see, this is the year 3042."
