Fifteen

I put down my last book and finish writing a sentence for the paper. I put the paper in the pile of assignments I need to mail in. I grabbed my assignments and walked to he mail room. I slid the papers in a orange envelope and addressed it. I then wrote a letter to the general requesting more courses to take. Saying I finished the courses that he sent to the camp for me to do. That was until someone cleared his throat behind me. I turned around and looked at Sebastian.
'Yes Sebastian what can I do for you this evening?' I asked turning back around. I handed it to the person on duty. And said to make sure you get that mailed in as soon as possible. I turn back around and looked at him waiting.
"How can you do all that stuff back there. And not to be disrespectful but how old are you?" He asked.
'I don't mind. I'm fifteen. I spent my birthday here in Iraq during my first tour. Um I was kidnapped and experimented on to make me like this. I don't get tired so I can't fall asleep ever again so I spend my time on my education and protecting this camp. I ran away from my home when I was fourteen. Due to abusive parents that drank all day and every day. I missed so much school due to being knocked unconscious from a beating. I didn't stick around much before cops came and started helping the people of New York. I can heal fast too. I know because I laid on a bomb that was next to camp to lesson the damage. I told Caleb that I'm alive and told everyone to go back to bed. Did you know I used to be 5'4 before I got tortured in a lab? Well I was and now I'm making sure all soldier go home to their families. So their family don't split like mine did. And this is what I will look like until I die. Which I am finding hard to believe.' I said finishing up looking in his eyes.
'You wanna come with me for perimeter check?' I asked.
"Sure and is that all true?" He asked.
'Yup I am under the custody of the general at the moment. So I got medals for saving lives and beating training records.' I said. I grabbed my gun and checked every thing. I grabbed his and checked it. I then hand it back to him. 'Make sure your gun is cleaned everyday you don't want it jammed when you need it the most.' I said.
We walked around the perimeter. Until I spotted something.
'Wait here unless you want to die by explosive. Also be aware of your surroundings. We could be ambushed.' I stated. I took out my knife and looked at the ground for loose dirt. I don't want to accidentally set it off. I checked for wires and amount of TNT. Then one of the humvies coming back to base. I hold my hand up but they didn't catch it. I lay on the bomb cause if it to explode. I got pushed into the air. I felt my ribs brake and my spine also. I landed off to the side of the humvie. And I saw who was in it. My platoon. Their was a string of curse words before they picked me up and picking Sebastian up on the way.
'I told you to stop. You didn't pay attention. If I waited longer you would've died by the bast zone.' I coughed out.
"Yeah well that was kind of my fault I was talking to Percy who was in the back." Caleb stated. Well when my ribs and spine heal you are running the course until you beat newbies time of ten minutes. Your time last time was fifteen so good luck.' I coughed up more. I can feel my ribs pop into place. And by the tell of everyone in the humvies faces they heard it. 'Well that felt better' I said with a smile.
"Your crazy you know that right?" Sebastian asked.
"You get used to it. But she saved about a thousand soldiers in the past year so it's worth it. No offense Sammy." Percy and Caleb said almost in unison. I started to laugh.
'Are you sure your not related because that telepathy that you shared tells me otherwise.' I said. They just chuckled.
"How's your college classes going Sam?" Caleb asked.
'I just mailed out my assignments for German, computer sciences, biology science, criminal profiling, nurse year two, and law three. I asked for the next set of courses.' I said restating the ones I just finished.
"Didn't you just get those this morning though?" Asked Percy.
'Maybe but I was bored and it was easy. At least you can sleep your bored off. I can't sleep a day in my anymore thanks to evil scientists that kidnapped me.' I states finally able to sit up. I popped my back and gave a relief sigh. While Sebastian looks kind of creeped out.
'Okay Sebastian who recruited you and did not tell you my basic background. I told everyone to tell the new recruits so they don't get creeped out. And here we are' I said putting my hands above my head.
"The general sent me to this platoon. So..." he said.
'Oh general you are getting yourself your child custody revoked by the time I finished.' I said to the sky. Caleb just chuckled at me.
'Well this was fun and all but I'm going to get my blood washed off before the cafeteria people throw up again. That was not pretty.' I shivered. So did my platoon that was there. I ran off the the tent and then to the showers. I scrubbed my self cleaned. The. Putting the uniform on and my long blonde hair in a bun. Then headed to the cafeteria for dinner.
