Hayden talked to George twice in the past 8 years. Now, Adair at 10 years old and Christopher at 8, both went to school in Chicago and they led extremely normal lives. The firs time Hayden talked to George, he sent a vast amount of money that Hayden had trouble accepting so she could pay for everything, and she was doing very well. Her age of 33 didn't show much at all. She wasn't one to get stressed about anything at all. Only Adair knew about what happened, because Hayden figured she could handle it.
It was now 1976, a big year in nearly everything. Music was huge, substances were still big from the 60s. Everything was a lot to handle, but Hayden could hardly handle it over work and her fiance, who had been with her for 2 years, since George and Hayden's divorce was finalized. Micah Christensen proposed only a few weeks ago, and he was genuinely a nice person and truly didn't love anybody else but Hayden. He was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, and came to Chicago for college, fell in love with it, and decided to stay. Another thing Hayden liked about him was his age. He was 34 and also out of a divorce. He had one son, Kellan, whose custody was taken almost completely by his first wife. But though he missed him, he didn't let it keep him down around Hayden.
Better yet, both kids really liked him, but Hayden couldn't understand how he could see anything in a 33 year old single mom of two whose first husband cheated on her numerous times, as George had admitted over the phone. Micah explained that he didn't look at people for their past, but rather for who they are now.
It was mid June, and both of her children were out of school, Adair in 4th grade going into 5th and Christopher in 3rd going into 4th.
Hayden laughed, as today was June 25, also Christopher's half birthday. He took it incredibly serious, and it made his mother laugh at she washed dishes that evening with Micah next to her.
"Mommy, you should make me a cake."
"Topher, I'm not gonna make you a cake, but I will let you help me with supper tomorrow night too."
"Really?" His brown curls aided in making his features seem adorable and happy. Hayden smiled at her son while Micah grinned.
"Sure. Now, come on. It's past your bedtime." It was nearly 9:30 much too late for him to be awake. Adair had already gone to bed.
"Mom, I'm not tired."
"Yes you are, believe me. Come on." She took her son's hand and took him upstairs, putting him to bed and pulling the covers up to his chin. She kissed his forehead as his eyes closed.
"I love you, darling."
While Hayden still donned an English accent while both of her children spoke with American accents after being around American kids all the time.
She went back downstairs where Micah was sitting on the counter in the kitchen.
"Y'know, Hayden, I really adore the way you handle them. I adore a lot of things about you." He jumped off and put his hands on her waist, still curvy after 2 pregnancies in 10 years.
"Thank you, Micah. That means a lot to hear." His hands trailed to her back as he pulled her in for a kiss. She kissed him back sweetly, and he slowly pushed her backwards so soon her lower back was pressing against the edge of the counter. He pressed his front into her as things got heated, and she felt young again. She felt like a 22 year old again, nearly 11 years younger than she really was. She knew Micah was the right one because very few people could make her feel that way.
"I love you, Hayden. I just hope you know that and believe my words."
"I do, Micah. I love you too." He resumed kissing her as his hands snaked lower, lifting her up and taking her upstairs.
Their wedding was set for July 16, Micah's birthday, and they wanted to wait to do anything until then, but now seemed just right.
They sweetly made love for the first time, and Hayden missed the feeling of somebody really loving her. He held her with the most possessive and loving hold to make sure she wouldn't ever leave.
They collapsed together in the steamy room, the summer breeze blowing in through the window to cool them. Micah kissed Hayden's face sweetly as her eyelids fluttered sleepily.
"Go to sleep, darlin'. You deserve a break." He kissed her again. "I'll be here in the morning."

Their wedding was lovely. It was in St. Peter's church towards the heart of Chicago, in the Loop. Their remaining families were there, and Micah had a big Hawaiian family. A lot of friends came to the wedding, most of them the friends from Hayden's work at the hospital who she loved to death and who loved her to death. The reception was at a winery toward the outside of the city.
Hayden was having a wonderful time, enjoying the food and company and all of the guests. As she drank her champagne and visited with all of her friends. She got several congratulations and compliments on her dress and everything else.
She started to get a bit tired and went out on the balcony and let the breeze caress her face. Arms snaked around her arms and she leant into the body behind her, but screamed when she didn't recognize Micah's broad shoulders.
She spun around and her eyes turned dark and her heart dropped.
George.
"Hayden, please listen to me..." he started.
"I don't think you understood when I said I didn't want to see you ever again." Her eyes already burned with tears. Her dyed blonde hair fell over her eyes as she began to fight against his grip.
"Can you please just listen? I want to see my children again."
"No, George. You did this so you will have to pay for it."
"Hayden! Listen to me!"
"Micah!" She yelled, still fighting George's iron grip.
"What the hell is going on?" Micah came out and upon realizing what was happening, grabbed George by the shoulders and yanked him back.
Hayden didn't want anything to do with anything else except her family. She just wanted to be home with her new husband and two children.
"Get out of here!" Micah protected Hayden as well as he could. Hayden would have felt bad if she didn't know he was married to the same chick he cheated on her with.
"Hayden, did this mean anything to you?" George asked, showing her 3 things- her ring that she left behind, a picture of the 4 of them right after Christopher was born, and another picture of them dancing when he was still a beast. Sad memories flooded back and Hayden turned away.
"No, they don't!" She partially lied.
"Hey, man. Get outa here," Micah said. "She doesn't want you here."
"Fine. But Hayden, I still love you, and I fucked up beyond belief. I'm not telling you this to get you back or getting you to forgive me, but I just wanted to see you one last time. Congratulations, and I love you. Bye."
George walked out and they saw him down on the street walking to Union Station. That was the last time they ever saw each other face to face ever again.
