Hospitals are timeless. Clocks are nowhere. Time zips past when you dose into a sleep. Time drags when you're awake and entertain yourself counting roof tiles. It was a lose lose situation.
It felt as though days had past, and still no one had come to check up on me. I could ring my mum... And give her a heart attack? Yes Zofia, brilliant idea, she'll be stuck in the blinking bed next to you.
A nurse hovered outside the door fiddling with a clip board. 'Nurse?!' I croaked.
'Is everything alright, Ms?' The girl was so young how the hell could she be qualified to save lives in the life she's only shortly been introduced for?
'No honestly it isn't. I'm so bored.' I wheezed.
'Aww that's alright honey, a doctor will be here shortly.' Honey? Older people call younger people honey! Too mature!
'Can you tell Doctor to hurry up?'
'He's on his way.' And without another glance poof the sugar babe fairy was gone.
Soft rattle of curtain scrapping... Soft, rattle, scrapping? That was a major oxymoron combo... Does more than two words even work?
I blinked waking up to find a doctor at the foot of the bed smiling.
'Zofia! Nice to meet you I'm Dr Ross. I have some good news that will certainly make you happy!'
'Whoa whoa whoa. Hold on a second. First can you please explain what the hell happened that led to me being here?'
'What was the last thing you remember?' Dr Ross asked looked slightly irritated by the twitch of his eyebrow.
To lie or not to lie... The last thing I remembered was being proposed to and how did I explain casually that my ex lover had proposed... 'My...ermm friend proposed to me.'
'Really? Well did you not like this friend?'
'I don't remember anything after he asked, why? What did I do?'
'Well the report here says you walked straight out into the road, was it a big shock?' Dr Ross wanted all the gossip, didn't he.
'Yes it was a shock, I've not seen him for a little while... But I can't remember what happened next!'
'Alright then, well I came here for the good news, not to wind you up.' He smiled.
'Don't leave me hanging or anything!' I coughed.
'I think we need to tone down on the morphine...' He muttered.
'The good news Doctor?' I reminded him frustrated.
'Oh yes, you only suffered a mild concussion, we believe no internal bleeding and we have an MRI booked for in an hours time just to make sure. Memory loss isn't a thing to be taken lightly.'
'Great, so I can go home as soon as I've had the MRI?'
'Ermm... It might be an idea to have someone drive you home. But yes, so long as the MRI is okay.'
'Yay.' I cheered in monotone.
'Right, well I'll see you in an hours time.' He announced thinking him self victorious, just in the way he strides, you could tell.
He drew back the curtain a left, two people stood opposite my bed talking quietly. Xander and Lucas.
Suddenly I didn't want any company, I wanted the curtain drawn back round me.
