Zofia's POV-

A ding dong at the door stirred me from my sleep, despite the fact it probably wasn't important I heaved my bloated body out of bed and shuffled to the door.

'What are you doing here so early?' I almost screamed.

'8 O'clock is not early. I brought croissants?' Xander gestured to a bag in his hand, I gave an unimpressed look, he shook the bag and I gave in my tummy against me.

Xander led himself to the kitchen and I followed still rubbing sleep from my eyes. 'So care to tell me why you've neglected a pregnant woman from her sleep?'

'You said yesterday you wanted help, the baby could come at any time we need to get it done.' Xander held a plate with a croissant out to me and pulled a chair out for me.

'Yeah I guess earlier starts are better.'

'You don't even need to do anything, unless you want to supervise, I think 9 months worth of baby building allows you lazy privileges.' He'd been this much of a kiss ass for the last couple of months and I couldn't understand why, since we were alone now was a time to divulge.

'What's up with you?' Okay, maybe I shouldn't have said it that plainly but I didn't want to beat around the bush.

'What do you mean what's up?'

'I mean why are you trying so hard lately? Is something wrong?'

'No, nothing's wrong.' He answered too quickly. I lent against the counter and took a bite of my croissant staring at him intensely to get the information out of him.

'Anything that's bothering you or making you act this way please just say.'

'Okay don't hate me-' Something must've toppled over in the fridge because there was a sound of running liquid, I'd told Lucas that part of the kitchen looked uneven. I sadly placed my croissant down and dragged myself to the fridge. 'Zofia?'

'He never listens!' I grunted, on my tippy toes searching for the spillage.

'I don't know what you're on about but I don't think anything in the fridge is going to be helpful to your water breaking.'

'My what?!'

'Your water breaking!'

'I heard you the first time!' I couldn't think straight, how had I not felt it on my legs. 'The rooms not finished we have to finish that first, I can have the baby later.'

'No, Zofia I don't think it works like that.' The doorbell rang and I internally battled with myself whilst absently letting Lucas in.

'I can just hold it in.' I mumbled terrified.

'What the fuck is going on?' Lucas asked dropping the bags he was holding and then he led me to the kitchen table.

'Nothing!' I blurted before Xander could say anything. 'We need to finish the baby's room.' I got back on to my feet and wandered into the babies room.

'We need to get you to the hospital.' Lucas said swallowing loudly enough for me to hear.

'I can't leave it unfinished, it needs to be finalised before it's here I can't do everything once the baby's popped it's way out of me.'

Xander was quiet by the kitchen sink but Lucas was rubbing my back not seeming phased at all.

'The baby will be sleeping in your room for a few weeks anyway sweetie. We want to meet the little person you've been growing in you for the last 9 months don't we?' Lucas said making sense it was stupid to worry about finishing this, I just hated not having anything completed and not deciding yet. 'Xander please go get Zofia's hospital bag.'

Lucas looped my arm around his neck and led me slowly to the car whilst Xander scrambled in front of us to get his car started.

It wasn't any day now, it was now.

Lucas climbed into the back of the car with me and raised my legs onto his lap. I shakily strapped myself in as Lucas started doing breathing exercises with me and Xander speedily but carefully drove to the hospital.
~~~~~
Things were blurring scarily fast, I'd gotten from car to wheel chair to bed to what seemed a matter of seconds, nurses and midwives were visiting regularly saying how much I'd dilated.
'Can I get you anything?' Xander finally stopped pacing the room hypnotising me into a daze, his voice snapping me out of it.
'Water.' I demanded then realised. 'Please.'
Lucas came to my side and held my hand his palms sweaty. 'I feel nervous for you so you must feel like you have Eagles in your tummy rather than butterflies, just remember we are all here to have this baby with you.'
'I would much rather prefer it if you had it for me.' I quietly said wiggling round on the bed unable to feel comfortable what so ever.
'If I could've grown this baby inside of me instead of you I would've.' Lucas smiled and squeezed my hand.
My thoughts flooded to the barely finished nursery, how little I knew; I've never changed a nappy, never breastfed, the only thing I seemed able to do with babies is make them.
An intense pain festered in my womb sending my whole body into spasms, I bit my lip holding back a scream but still releasing a loud whimper.
'Zofia, keep calm it'll be here soon, not much longer of this pain.'
'What do you know?!' I half whimpered half shouted at Lucas as Xander walked through the door.
'Everything okay?' Xander asked slowly approaching me and bringing the cup of water to my mouth.
'What the fuck are you doing? I've managed building a baby myself I can fucking managed drinking water myself!' I looked between Lucas and Xander, both looking terrified, I felt sorry for them but the pain was nothing I'd ever felt before.
I took a long sip of the water but the pain flared again and I spilt it all down myself screaming in agony, a nurse ran in took one look at me then pushed both Lucas and Xander out the room.
I felt sick, sleepy and weary.
'Stay with me Zofia-' Was the last I heard before darkness took over.
