Hogwarts was a lot bigger than Rose imagined. She heard countless of stories from her parents and other family members but none of their stories did it justice. The ceilings appeared to never have an ending. Ghost flew everywhere, the paintings had conversations with each other, the candles floated in the air. Rose spun around in awe as she took it all in. This is it. She was finally going to school where her parents and the rest of her family went. Rose couldn't be more excited.
A tall man dressed in long black robes stood at the front of them, behind the gigantic doors that let to the Great Hall. Rose watched as he looked over the chatty students before clearing his throat and silencing them all.
"Greetings first years," The man smiles at us. "I am Professor Flournoy. I am the new teacher for Potions, the old one retired, and I am also the head of the Hufflepuff House. You will be sorted into your houses shortly. I expect for all of you to enter this Great Hall in a calm and orderly fashion, yes?"
The first years nod all at once.
"Good. First years, welcome to the Great Hall."
Professor Flournoy gestures toward the doors and the open at the mention of their name. The students all gasped at once as they gaped at the Great Hall. The Hall was more magnificent than Rose could have imagined. She gasped like an lunatic at the grand room. Professor Flournoy gestured for them to follow him as he walked down the long path that lead to the podium at the front of the hall. Rose tried to ignore all the stares she was getting, even though they weren't all directed at her, it still made her nervous. Once the students reached the front, they all spread in a horizontal line. Professor Flournoy took his place at the podium before facing the crowd.
"To those who are returning I say welcome back, to the first years, welcome to your new home," He began. "You are now about to be sorted into your house and your house will be like your family, so I advise you to get to know your house. You will be able to earn point for good deeds, but also be deducted points for breaking any kind of rule. Whichever house with the most points at the end of the year will win the house cup. Now, let the sorting begin."
Rose pursed her lips. Please don't let her go first, please don't let her go first-
"Albus Potter."
Rose let out a breath she was holding.
Albus gulped down a lump as he quickly made his way over to the sorting at and gave her a wink as the hat was placed on his head. Rose watched in anticipation as the sorting hat rambled on. Finally, after what seemed like a lifetime, the Sorting Hat smirked before he yelled SLYTHERIN! The Slytherin table cheered and hollered as Albus made his way over to the table. Rose had a feeling he'd be put in Slytherin, but she wasn't worried one bit. She knew Albus would flourish there.
Scorpius tapped his foot anxiously as more and more names were called and more and more students were placed into their houses. If he was be completely honest with himself, he wasn't looking forward to being sorted. He was almost certain he would be sorted into Slytherin House and he was dreading it. Coming from a family that sided with the Dark Lord and become Death Eaters doesn't give you a good reputation. What Scorpius was dreading the most was the Hat saying his name. Everyone knew the Malfoy name and it wasn't a good one.
"Rose Granger-Weasley."
This is it. Rose bravely took a seat in the chair and but her lip as the Sorting Hat was lowered onto her head.
"Ah, another Weasley," The Hat purred. "Not just any Weasley, no. The daughter of Hermione Granger and Ronald Weasley. A Granger-Weasley. Yes, two key members of The Golden Trio. Boy-do you have a lot to live up to. Well, well, well. Where I should I put you. Let me think...GRYFFINDOR!"
