It felt so amazing to see Rey in person, finally. He had been a very important part of my life for two years, but I had never met him, with the fear that he may not be the same person. Or the fear that I might not be the person he thought I was.
But now I finally did. And I had never felt so good about anything before. He is so amazing! Even better than I thought he would be. Well, he is my best friend after all.
It had been 3 weeks since I met Rey for the first time. We hung out almost everyday after that. He lived quite near from my college, so I would meet him very often.
I introduced him to my childhood friend the other day. Purva, had been my friend since birth, because we lived next to each other. He instantly developed a crush on her. Purva was a very pretty girl. But I never thought that she was Rey's type. Turns out she was "perfect", as he would say. For some reason, I didn't like the idea of Rey and Purva. I just didn't.
Me and her were gonna go camping to Goa. I was really pumped up about it. Goa is the best place in this whole universe to go to, with your friends. And I was doing just that, with the person who knows me so well, almost as much as Sam does. Almost.
We were travelling there by bus, so when I climbed in, I was disappointed to find out that the only remaining two seats were at the front. Me and Purva took our seats and set off for the best trip of our lives.
Just as we drove out of Pune, my phone started ringing. I looked at the screen to see that it was Rey. It was about 10:30 at night, and he had never called me that late, before.
I got a bit confused and part of me, also concerned. I answered the call.
"Hello?" I asked cautiously.
"Hey, Mihi. Is Purva with you? She's not answering my texts." He said.
I suddenly had this sinking feeling in me. He called me so that he could talk to her?
"Yeah. Hold on." I said in the most sarcastic tone ever. I handed my phone to Purva. "It's Rey, he wants to talk to you." I said.
Purva raised her eyebrows in a surprised manner and took my phone. She spoke to him for almost 30 minutes before I got agitated. "Okay, I'm getting really bored over here. Can't you talk to him tomorrow or something? And on your phone?" I said loud enough for Rey to be able to hear that on the other side of the line.
Purva then looked at me and a look of realisation appeared on her face. She quickly said goodbye to Rey before handing the phone to me. "He wants to talk to you." She said with a small smile on her face.
I snatched my phone from her hand. "What?" I snapped.
"Whoa, what's wrong?" He asked.
"I'm on a trip with my friends. I don't want you calling me and asking to talk to my friend. So just don't call me at all. The whole trip." I said and hung up.
Neither of us - Purva and I - said a word for two minutes. Purva was then the one to break the silence. "Are you okay?" She asked me.
"Yeah. Why wouldn't I be okay?" I said.
"Okay. If you say so." She said before taking out her iPod that had a lot of movies. She brought it along for us to watch movies while travelling. "Which one do you wanna watch?" She asked.
"Order of the Phoenix?" Her and I said, together. We laughed and I nodded before we popped in the ear pods, one each.
Me and Purva had been friends since we were 1 year olds. So effectively I knew her for 16 years. She and I didn't go to same school, so around grade 9 and 10, her and I kind of drifted apart. But whenever we did meet, it would be like old times. She knew me very well, as did I. We loved the Harry Potter series - movies and books.
