A Second Chance

Part 16 - Touch Down

Charm settled herself on the seat and fastened her seatbelt. The FAs made their rounds to check the passengers. She asked the FA if she could have a drink.

'Hi, do you have something to drink? I mean I'm a bit jitterry. I need something to calm my nerves' she explained

The FA sensing her nervousness smiled 'Certainly ma'am. Would you like something strong, a brandy perhaps? or wine?

'Anything would do but nothing strong' Charm answered

'I think we have something just right for you. I'll be right back ma'am'

'Thank you' she smiled. The FA went to get her drink.

The FA returned with 2 wineglasses in her tray.

'Here ma'am, I brought you two glasses of wine' handing one of the glass to Charm.

'This is French white from Burgundy' the FA said. Charm took a sip of the wine.

The FA then gave her the other glass with red wine, 'this one is French red from Bourdeux' she took a sip too.

'hmmm...this one is good. Can I have a bottle of this....please' she smiled her 'give me a bottle or else i will die of nervousness' smile at the FA.

The FAs eyes widen. She never expected the lady to request a bottle of wine all by herself. She thought a glass or two would be enough. But then again maybe she must really be in jitters.

'Ok ma'am I'll leave the bottle with you until we're ready to fly in 10minutes. If you want anything more?'

'No, I'm fine and thank you' Charm said and began sipping.

'You're most welcome ma'am' and the FA went to another passenger.

The wine tastes great so the sipping turned to drinking the full glass of wine in one gulp. Hmmm...this is good..this is a good idea..maybe I should just sleep so I won't know what will happen...

The overhead speaker chimed

'Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We liked to welcome you onboard Qatar Airways flight to Manila, Philippines. Our flight duration is around 5 hours and we are expecting a fairly smooth flight today. Once again we thank you for choosing to fly with us today and we hope you enjoy your flight'

The plane is about to take off in 6 minutes. She put the headphones on her ear and listened to random music. She already had 3 glasses of wine and the buzz is just starting.

The FA approached her again to get the bottle of wine assuring her that as soon as they're airborne she would return the bottle. She just smiled and nod at her.

She closed her eyes but sleep is eluding her. Are we airborne yet? I guess not, the FA has not returned. She turned up the volume and closed her eyes again. A movement made her open her eyes and she saw the smiling FA returning her bottle of wine and saying something which she can't hear. She just gave her a thumbs up and smiled. Oh good! and drank more of the wine. She's not worried that she'd get tipsy or drunk because she had a high alcohol tolerance..she just wanted to sleep the whole flight..in case...

She's floating...of course I'm in an airplane. She's being swayed to and fro. She can feel the air blowing her hair. She slowly opened her eyes and sat upright. I'm in a swing! She looked around her. I'm in my happy place again! She scanned the meadow and smiled but her smile was replaced with worry when her eyes saw the hill and the place beyond it. She stood up. Why do I need to go there? Because. She slowly walked up the hill while looking around. She saw a big tree...hmm, I didn't see that in my last dream. Her eyes squinted a little. There is something silhouetted under the tree. She stared for a while figuring what is that 'thing' when it suddenly moved. Is that a person? She wanted to go and check. She looked up the hill and back to the tree. Oh well, she sighed and went to the direction of the hill. She stopped when she finally reached the end of the green grass.
