Part 14 - Traveling Alone

Malpensa airport

Charmaine can't stop fidgeting on her seat. Boarding time is still 20mins. She made sure she arrived early at the airport. She sat on the waiting area where she can see the display board of flight schedules clearly so she won't miss hers. She checked her itinerary again. The plane is scheduled to leave at 16:50 and will arrive at Doha at 23:50 for a lay over. Change planes there and will leave at 02:10. She have 2 hrs and 20mins to spare. Her ETA in Manila is at 16:00. Ugh! It will be a long flight but she made sure she have everything that would pass away the time.

Mandala - ✔she chanced upon it when she was browsing the app store. Since she can't bring her paints, she downloaded the mobile application. Book - ✔ luckily, Lang Leav's and Michael Faudet's book is already available on e-book.
Coldplay - ✔should never miss this for anything, her super favorite band.

Ok, it's all complete, I'm good to go. She took a deep breath and looked up the display board again. 15mins. She knows she's overreacting, but she can't help it. She closed her eyes for a moment, remembering how she ended up taveling alone.

2 weeks earlier...

Paolo flew to the Philippines 2 weeks earlier than scheduled. He says he had other business to attend to and he plans to visit some friends before their missio/project starts. Granny Nid and Tini have no objection about it. And so, Paolo went off as soon as his secretary booked him a flight. 5 days after Paolo's gone, Granny Tini met an accident spraining her left foot when Lupo jumped on her while playing catch and lost her footing. She is in the hospital recuperating when Granny Nid went down with a flu and after series of laboratory work-ups, she was diagnosed to have a pneumonia. Charm cancelled their reservation 5 days before their scheduled flight without informing her grandmothers. But as soon as Granny Nid learned of it, she expressed her disappointment.

'Why did you cancel your flight, bella?' Granny Nid asked, tiredness in her voice.

'Nonna, of course I would cancel it. Do you think I would go to the Philippines alone and leave you two here in the hospital?' Charm answered

'Cara mia, we are strong as a bull. Don't worry about us. After all, we are in the hospital being taken cared of by competent doctors and nurses at our beck and call. You need not worry about us. We are fine' Granny Tini said, her left foot dangling on a metal pole so as not to further injure it.

Both grandmothers are occupying the suite room in the east wing on the top floor of the hospital. An extension of one of their rooms at the mansion. A privilege being a regular patient of the hospital and one of its board of Directors.

'You're Nonna Tini is right, bella' Granny Nid agreed with her sister.

'And besides...' Granny Tini didn't finish her sentence when the door suddenly burst open, Nico and Niki came rushing in.

'Nonne what happened? Are you two okay? Niki kissed both grannies and checked them one by one going from one bed to the other.

Nico is just taking his time waiting for his twin sister to finish her own checkup.

'No need to worry Niki, it's just a sprain. Your Nonna here...' pointing at her sister, Nidora '...has a pneumonia but she's being taken cared of. Medications and rest will do' their Granny explained

'By the way, why are you two here? I thought you're due to speak at a business seminar somewhere?'

'Si, Nonna. But it was postponed. We'll speak in 2days' Nico explained
