A Concerned Bugaboo

A heavy storm started coming into Paris by the time everyone left Marinette's house. Wind had started picking up, and dark clouds started looming over head. Marinette hoped that the power wouldn't go out, and went down to help her parents in the bakery until it was time for dinner. Rain started falling hard, but by the time dinner was over, they could hear thunder in the distance.

Marinette's parents were called down to Mayor Bourgeois' hotel for an interview to maybe become the official bakers of his hotel. If they got the job they'd get to also provide treats at his birthday party that was in a week. After they said their goodbyes Marinette said she was gonna go up to bed, she was truly tired from everything that happened; what with Lila and Chloe, and with Nino and Wayzz, it was extremely draining.

Grabbing a small bag of cookies from the pantry for Tikki to have, she slowly went up her stairs to her room. As she took each step, she couldn't help but rub her eyes of tiredness.

Once Marinette entered her room and placed the cookies on her desk, she went to go get her pajamas. But before she could change into them she heard knocking on her skylight. Marinette looked over in confusion. Adrien didn't text her that he'd be visiting, and it was much to early for him to come over. She climbed up and when she opened the skylight, she was meet with a pelting rain and a very sad Chat Noir. How long had he been out there? He was completely soaked, head to tail. Before she could question him, Chat spoke.

"I'm sorry to inconvenience you. I didn't want to just barge in unannounced. So I waited out here." Marinette took him by the hand and dragged him inside, muttering to herself as he released his transformation.

"You silly cat! Are you trying to get you and your Kwami a cold." Her harsh tone shifted as she noticed his appearance. Adrien was hunched over, his breathing was heavy like his eyes. His eyes were sullen and tired, like he had been crying for a long time. Adrien wasn't looking at Marinette, instead he looked down to the puddle he started to form around his feet. Marinette became increasingly concerned and worried. "Adrien, what happened?" Adrien shifted slightly and let out a sniff. He still didn't look up but he spoke, in a weak and unconfident way which was so unlike him.

"It's... it's my mom." Marinette was all ears, and waited patiently for him to say more. "She's... sh-she's back..." Marinette didn't know how to compute the new information. She thought he'd be happy for her to return, but he was anything but happy. Adrien was unable to hold back his tears, all resistance he had when it concerned his tears, failed him. The tears came like breathing to him by this point, he didn't bother whipping them away, and they just fell down to puddle around him. Marinette tried to give him a big hug, despite Adrien being completely soaked.

Adrien let Marinette's warmth over take him and he just let her hug him. He didn't care if he was wet, or had caught a cold, the only thing he cared about was her, Marinette. Nothing would separate the two, not his father, not his mother, nothing.

"ACHOOOO!" Okay maybe a sneezing fit would end up having to separate them for the time being. Marinette rushed to her bathroom and grabbed a fresh towel and wrapped it around Adrien, making him sit down while she went to go make him some tea, her mom always made when she was sick.

Marinette walked down stairs and turned on the kettle to make the tea. Aware of her clumsiness she carefully walked up the stairs. After she handed Adrien his cup she tried the rest of him off and the puddle he made, which he tried to apologize for, but Marinette wouldn't hear of any of his apologies. She wrapped him up in her own blankets. He took in the warmth and fragrance of Marinette through the blanket and already felt better. After awhile he finally told all that happened with him and his mom.
