~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Winter break had officially started and I was glad that it was going to start off fun. Tonight we were all going out for dinner, but really it was chance for all of us to chill and enjoy each others company.
I had been at Marlene's practically all day, if you consider that I woke up at 12 and showed up at her house quarter to 2. The rest of the girls had showed up around 3 or 4 which gave us a good chunk of time to talk about a certain stormy blue-eyed boy.
"So what's going on with you and Four?"
"I honestly don't know. He's been really nice to me lately and sometimes we act like we're together but we're not." I say looking at the cup of hot chocolate in my hands.
"You know I first met Four because of Uriah, obviously, but it took him a long time to accept me as the friend I am to him now. It wasn't easy because he was always closed off, he only really talked to Zeke and Uriah and that was it. When Uriah and I started dating he was kind of forced to open up to me more, and then Shauna and Lauren came into the picture because the three of us were best friends. That took time as well but he eventually did, but he got especially close to Lauren and within 2 months they started dating. Even the guys were surprised at how quick he got into it with her,"
I don't know why she's explaining this to me but I listen anyways,
"but once 3 months had passed they took it as a serious relationship. But I knew they had a lot of fights, Lauren always told me what happened but none of the other girls really knew. She was convinced she was in love with him but that much fighting and arguing in a relationship isn't healthy but she wouldn't listen to me. It got really bad around the same time you showed up and well you know what happened from there." She closes her eyes for a moment and then turns to me.
"I know you're probably wondering what the fuck this has to do with you but I just felt like I had to tell you. I don't want you to get hurt because I care about you and I should of told Lauren to leave him instead of holding on for so long. I don't want to make the same mistake." She frowns looking at me.
I grab her hand and smile at her, "Thank you, for telling me this."
We sit in silence for a while but it's not awkward it's comfortable and like it.
"I don't mean that you shouldn't be with him or anything like that, if anything I think you two could be perfect for each other. He seems genuinely happy this time, even Uriah has said so, I just don't want him to rush things and force you into something you're not ready for because I know you want to take things slow."
"He knows that I'm scared, I mean with what happened with Luke, and I know that he would never hurt me physically but I'm just unsure of whether he would commit long term you know. We haven't fought or anything which is good I guess but I don't know I'm just a bit unsure."
"Yeah I see what you mean. From what I see he seems like he genuinely cares about you and I mean it, this isn't what it was like with Lauren, you're different Tris. The way he looks at you sometimes is like he'd do anything for you."
My heart picks up a bit at the words that are coming out of her mouth.
"But I don't want you to just take my word for it, I want you to be sure for yourself and not what people tell you."
"I know, I just don't know how to be sure. I mean he still flirts with girls but not as much and I don't know about his sex life but he doesn't bring them home, but then again he could always be going to their places."
"Uriah told me he hasn't gotten laid since before the carnival. That was is October, that's the longest he's ever gone before since being with Lauren."
