The plane’s wheels skid against the pavement and my hand constricts around Finn’s. He looks over at me and smiles with amusement. He’s done so much traveling that this doesn’t even faze him. Once the plane is safely on the ground and maneuvering around the outside of the airport, I release his hand and reach for my small mirror.

My hair is still pulled back, and now I’m wearing a loose gray shirt with a colorful design on it and black leggings. My feet are tapping against the floor anxiously and I’m taking deep breaths. The plane finally stops and I’m clutching my carryon with an unbearable about of anxiety. We all stand up to begin exiting the plane when Finn turns to look at me.

“They’re going to love you. Especially my Dad,” Finn grins happily, “You have absolutely nothing to worry about.”

The reassuring look in his eyes makes me feel better. Hearing his confident voice tell me that I shouldn’t be worried actually helped a lot. We shuffle out of the plane and into the airport. In the busy crowd moving forward, I stand on my toes to try and locate Jack. He was in the back of the plane so we exited the plane before him.

I want to wait for him to catch up, but Finn holds my hand and pulls me through the London airport. It’s a massive and hectic place, and suddenly I’m the person with a different accent. We grab our bags at the claiming area and quickly move on. While we’re walking away I spot Jack’s luggage moving along the conveyer belt alone. I feel bad for not making Finn wait for him.

I’m still preoccupied with finding Jack when Finn says the words, “Mum, Dad, this is Ash.”

My eyes fall on the two people standing in front of me. They’re both taller than me, making me feel even more intimidated than before.

“Hello! I’m Rebecca, and this is my husband Andy,” his mother takes my hand and shakes it very gently before looking me over with careful eyes.

“It’s so nice to meet you two,” I shake Andy’s hand and he looks me with a giant smile on his face.

I can tell where Jack and Finn get their stunning eyes when I take a long look at their father. He’s very handsome, and their mother looks so stunning that I wish I dressed up more. She’s wearing a somewhat formal black dress with a white cardigan hung loosely over her shoulders.

“Leave it to Finn to bring a girl back from vacation!” Andy chuckles to his son, “You were right, she’s gorgeous.”

I blush madly and smile like an idiot. They seem really sweet and nice, but I still can’t wait for this to be over.

Rebecca’s voice makes me jump, “Jack!”

Jack moves between Finn and me before wrapping one arm around each parent and pulling them into a hug. Andy pats his sons on the back and Rebecca gives them pecks on the cheeks. They’re all so pleasant and kind to each other, which is completely different from the way my family gets along. My parents are divorced and can hardly speak to each other without getting into some sort of argument.

We all start to walk towards the exit while Jack and Finn ramble on about the highlights of the trip. Their parents talk about how much they’ve missed them and how they want to hear about the entire trip tonight at dinner. Rebecca turns to me with a small smile and invites me to the dinner I already assumed I would be attending.

I thank her for the invitation and tell her that I can’t wait, which is only partially a lie. Sometimes I wish I wasn’t so awkward with these kinds of situations. Finn takes my suitcase from my hands and starts to carry it, obviously noticing how much of a hassle it was for me to drag it around. He smiles at me with such sweet eyes and I suddenly feel comfortable about this entire situation. I know how secure my feelings are with Finn.
