The lunchbreak ended in 10 minutes from then on. There wasn't anything special happening in the day either. Just some more school stuff really. At the end of the day I did share my contact information with Green before going home though.
A week or so had passed, Green and the rest of the group had really warmed up to each other I feel like. Despite that he does kind of stick to me more than the rest, but that's probably because I'm his seat neighbor and he knows me best. Now skipping the part where there was just school stuff, it was lunch break at the moment.
''R-Red...?'' Yellow called out when I was daydreaming.
I snapped back to reality and looked at her.
''Oh what's up Yellow?'' I asked, putting my chopsticks away.
She laughed nervously, ''I-...I... Uh...'' she stuttered. Blue raised an eyebrow at her. She stood up and grabbed her by the shoulders and in response Yellow flinched and turned around. ''Excuse me Red, can I borrow Yellow for a moment? Yes? Okay good.'' and they walked off. I furrowed my eyebrows and looked at them for a moment before Green caught my eye.
Green eyed them suspiciously and stood up. ''I'm going to go ahead and get to class.'' He said as he put his stuff in his bag. ''What? Get to class early? How boring.'' Gold commented. Green ignored him and walked to the entrance.
''See you later Green!'' I shouted before he took a turn around the corner.
''What's so bad about getting to class early?'' Crystal asked Gold.
''You will have less time to chill with you friends, duh.'' Gold answered.
''But you'd be a good student, unlike you currently are Gold.'' Crystal retorted.
Gold scoffed and gave Crystal a cocky grin, ''With my good looks you wouldn't need to be a good student to get far in life.'' He vainfully said which made Crystal groan and roll her eyes.
The bell rang, ''Oh we should go.'' I said as I stood up from my seat. I grabbed my backpack and turned back to the two. Crystal stood up with her bookbag on her shoulder before pulling Gold off of his seat. He sighed and pouted, ''Come on SSG. I don't wanna go to class.'' he whined while looking at her with big round puppy eyes.
Crystal glared at him out of annoyance. She grabbed him by the collar and started walking to the class. I looked around in confusion and ended up just following them. Multiple times throughout the process of getting to class, Gold would yelp at Crystal's tugging and gave me panicked expressions.
We were on the main space of the school and got back inside. People were pushing us to get back to their own classes. ''Why is everybody so eager to get to class all of the sudden?'' Gold asked as he got shoved to the side by a random student. I saw that he started to fall and I caught him. He looked back at me and smiled sheepishly, probably also a little embarrassed, ''Uh.. Thanks Red.'' He said to me.
We carefully maneuvered between all the people and arrived at class to see half of our fellow classmates sitting there. Green weirdly enough was only getting to his seat. I shrugged it off and waved, ''Hey Green!'' and sat down on my desk right next to him.
He turned to me and smiled slightly. Just before the last few students arrived he whispered: ''Red? Do you have any plans today after school?''. I thought for a moment.
''Oh I actually do...'' I told him. I saw hurt flash in his eyes for a split second before a blank look on his face replaced it.
''Uh... With- with who?'' he asked me.
''With Yellow.'' I answered. He nodded almost unnoticeably and turned his head to the front of the class. Miss Juniper had begun the lesson already. I was trying to pay attention to her lesson but I found myself giving glances towards Green out of curiosity and out of confusion.
Green wasn't normal. He rally wasn't like anyone I've ever met. I've noticed that he wasn't particularly shy, he was just silent a lot of the time. He usually avoids people unless he's comfortable around them. So I'm happy he enjoys being around Blue, Gold, Crystal, Yellow and I. I mean, he only really talks to people he feels like he should. Which is strange... But it's cool to be honest. Like, this mysterious guy in my class. The grandson of professor Oak and also one of my friends. I'm happy that I m-
''Red, what do you think?'' Juniper asked.
I flinched and snapped out of my daze. I looked up to the teacher trying my best not to panic.
''Uh- haha... What was the question again?'' I asked in a whisper.
When school finally had ended for the day I got my things and walked outside to near the entrance of the hangout where I saw Yellow being pushed towards me by Blue. She was struggling with pushing Blue off her until she noticed me standing there.
''Oh uh- uh... Red!'' Yellow stuttered out of surprise.
I glanced at Blue for a moment, she was running away from us. I looked back at Yellow and chuckled a little, ''We should get to cleaning up huh?'' I said. Yellow nodded at me with a shy smile.
I grabbed her by the hand which made her eyes widen a bit. I gripped it somewhat tightly and led her to the hangout spot and when we got there, I turned to look at her again. She seemed kind of... Pink? Her cheeks were stained a light baby pink though I'm not sure why. Well, it is pretty hot outside today. So she's probably a little warm. Despite that, it was pretty cute... I mean I just- uh yeah... Nevermind ha...
''Uh-h... let's clean this place up!'' I said after shaking my head off of that thought.
I opened my backpack and got out a duster and handed it over to Yellow. Then I got out a pair of tough gloves and put them on my hands.
Yellow got rid of the dust that had built up and got hidden between the crevices of the wooden furniture while I went ahead to pull out the weeds that had grown between the tiles. It was tiring to say the least. While it already was difficult to pull out those plants, the hot sun wasn't helping either. I started sweating a little.
When the last plant that was large enough to bother pulling out was gone. I sat down onto the nearest chair with a puff.
''That... Was... Tiring.''
Yellow giggled a little. Was there something funny going on?
I smiled anyways, ''So we haven't really talked too much lately.'' I pointed out.
Yellow didn't respond to that at first but then sadly nodded. I exhaled through my nose. ''Do you want to go and get some ice cream with me?'' I asked her.
Her eyes widened and she looked at me in disbelief before nodding frantically. ''Y-Yes! Uh- s-sure!''
We walked out of school grounds hand in hand as suddenly a flock of birds flew across the sky. Yellow looked up to the animals while a smile tugged at her lips.
I looked at my watch. ''5 PM?'' I thought out loud. I looked at Yellow who had gotten a slightly tense look on her face. She usually had to be home early. I chuckled light heartedly,, ''Ah, we'll make it before it becomes 6 O' clock.'' I said to reassure her.
That day was really fun. It almost seemed like it ended way too soon. We went to the ice cream parlor and got two cones. Strawberry for Yellow and chocolate for me. After I payed we talked and ate the way to Yellow's house. We had lots of fun. Yeah, I enjoy being around Yellow. She really is the sweetest girl out of our entire class.
I waved her goodbye and got home just in time for dinner. But when I was finished eating and started to work on my homework, I just couldn't keep my attention to it. It's kind of embarrassing but I couldn't help but think about today. Yellow and I cleaned the hangout multiple times throughout last year but, I've never felt this way before.
