It seemed as though they had been sitting there for hours, listening and waiting for any sign of Percy's whereabouts. The air was cold, causing goosebumps to rise on Frank and Hazel's skin; the sky was gray and they knew a storm was coming. Neither of them dared to move or speak; it was far too quiet after Percy had been hot on their tail.

CLANG!

The sound rang in the air and Hazel's heart skipped a beat, her breathing short and quick.

"Come out, come out wherever you are!" A terribly familiar voice sang followed by a laugh that sent chills up their spines.

Heavy footsteps filled the air, Hazel's heart quickened and tears filled her eyes. She felt like she was in a horror movie.

"Come on guys, it's still me, just...improved." Percy said, his voice sickly sweet, sounding genuine and almost kind. The urge to come out willingly was shockingly difficult to overcome. "Frank, hey buddy why don't we discuss getting you a new bow? A better bow to replace something so broken and tattered."

Hazel felt Frank tense next to her and begin to stand, she quickly grabbed his arm and forced him back into a crouch. She could feel anger radiating off of him.

"Hazel, listen sorry for that fall, but it had to be done. Gaea, she's not as bad as you think." They could hear the crunching of glass under Percy's boots as he walked down the hall outside the room they were hiding in. "She just wants what is best for the world, we are not her target. The Olympians are the ones who have caused all of this."

They heard him stop outside their door, hearing it slowly creak open, flooding the room with light. Hazel and Frank flattened themselves more against the floor, hoping the desk they were hiding under would keep them hidden. The only way Percy would see them is if he look behind and under the desk. Percy stepped into the room, slowly walking, listening for them.

"She doesn't want to hurt us." He said, his voice firm. "Those who get in her way are...unfortunate products of what needs to be done. The needs of the many outweighs the needs of a few. Please, just give her a chance! Come back with me and all your trespasses will be forgiven."

Silence greeted him and he sighed, "I thought I knew you two better. I guess I was mistaken."

His words sounded heartfelt and sorrowful, as though he really did care about their well-being. Hazel and Frank peeked out of the little cubby to get a look at him, Percy ran over to one of the desks in the room and knocked off everything, sending papers and a monitor flying, "SHOW YOURSELVES TO ME!" Percy roared, flipping another desk in his wake, "I'M JUST TRYING TO HELP YOU, LET ME HELP YOU!"

Hazel and Frank flinched, Percy was getting awfully close to the desk they were hiding under. Hazel's spatha gently scraped the ground, she had been so careful of the blade all this while but the surprise of how close Percy had come distracted her. The sound was subtle, but just enough to grind your teeth and in the quiet room it was like a gunshot. Percy stopped walking and listened for a moment, a grin spread across his face, "You should have been more careful with that sword, Hazel."

Suddenly the desk the pair has been hiding under went flying out of the building, shattering more glass. Percy sneered down at them while raising his sword, "I will give you a five second head start."

"Did your mother every teach you not to play with your food?" Frank growled.

Percy glared down at him, "Maybe if she was alive."

Hazel frowned, his mother was alive...why would he say otherwise?

"One."

Frank grabbed her and started sprinting toward the shattered windows of the building.
