* Two days later *
*Michele visited Emil at the hospital. But before he could actually see Emil, he declared himself responsible for Emil and told the police his side of the story, helping them track down his family as well to inform them of what had happened.
Sara finally told Michele that she was dating Mila. He wanted to be happy for her, but couldn't due to the accident he had just caused. To sum it all up, Michele was heartbroken.
The doctors told Michele of Emil's condition. It was quite a lot to take in. Apparently, he had broken his legs but not to the point that an amputation was needed, fortunately. He had cracked one rib, and the doctors said they found his esophagus had burst, but they believed it was not part of the incident. Michele knew the truth, so he told the doctors. Emil was finally going to get help. Those were all the major injuries though. He had a lot of scars and bruises, mostly on his face, but those would heal in time.
Michele finally got permission to see Emil. Emil was awake, staring at the ceiling. The door opened, and Michele entered the room with gifts in his hands, to Emil's surprise.
Emil wanted oh so bad to be angry at Michele. But he couldn't. Michele thought Emil was asleep, so Emil faked it.
Michele saw Emil's whole face was bandaged, only living room for him to see, breathe, and eat. Michele sat down and grabbed Emil's hand, stroking it with his thumb gently.
"Hey... I know you're probably extremely mad at me. That's okay. I was wrong. I assumed things, and that was not okay. I was angry at you. I thought you were faking everything. I'm so sorry for blaming you for something you didn't do. I totally understand if you never want to see me again. I'm an idiot. This is all my fault. When you wake up, if you don't hate me, we can go or do whatever you want. For now, I bring you this."
Michele put the two gifts on the cabinet next to Emil's bed.
"Don't get diabetes from the chocolate." Michele said as he forced a chuckle, but later wiped a tear.
"Mickey...."
Michele turned around sharply.
"The only think I'm faking is being asleep."
*Three weeks later*
*Emil finally got checked out of the hospital, and insisted that Michele would take him to the beach nearby. It was a quiet morning, way to early to go out, but Emil still wanted to. He couldn't walk just yet, so Michele pushed him around on a wheelchair until he could get crutches.
"Are we there yet?"
"Be patient! It's not that close!"
"Okay okay!"
Emil inhaled the breeze. It smelled fresh. He loved it that way.
"Alright, now we're here."
"You're not trolling me?"
"Don't believe me? How about we take those bandages off your face so you can see for yourself?" Michele chuckled.
"But I look bad..."
"Your wounds need air." Michele said as he bent down to remove the bandages off Emil's face. When he did, Michele smiled.
"I look bad." Emil sighed.
"No, you're beautiful. The only thing that looks bad is that you're not smiling. Smile for me."
Emil did as told. His face hurt.
"Better?"
Michele nodded. Emil took a few moments to enjoy the view. The ocean was a mix between purple and red, since the sun was just rising. The waves were crashing against the sand, leaving traces of seaweed every now and then.
"Hey, Emil?" Michele asked.
"Yee?"
"Don't pay your rent anymore. Move out of your apartment."
"Huh? Why?" Emil wondered.
"Because I want you to come live with me. Here. In Italy." Michele said as he turned away to hide his blush.
"For real?"
"Yeah. There's an ice rink very close. You bring your coach whenever you need to. And you won't live alone anymore. You won't have to worry about the monster coming back. I'll make sure it won't. Plus, I'll give you food and water and you'll have a room to stay in. I'll take care of you." Michele explained. Emil smiled wider than ever that his face ached.
"Yes! That would be awesome!"
"Good."
There was a long pause between them. A warm feeling grew in Emil's chest. Could it be... love?
It was the right moment. He had to do it.
"Michele."
"Emil."
They both spoke at the same time.
"Y-you go first, Emil." Michele stuttered.
"I love you."
Michele's heart exploded with happiness. He wasn't confused. He smiled and put a hand on Emil's shoulder, making sure he was looking at him.
"My turn. Can I have a kiss without being drunk?" Michele asked. Emil smirked and made Michele kneel down so he could bring their lips together. It lasted for six seconds, maybe seven. It felt like the whole world had stopped. Time had stopped.
The world was going too fast, and Emil had finally found a way to make it stop. And it was the best way possible.
"I love you too, Emil Nekola."
End.
"Sometimes I leave a hate,
What is wrong with me?
When I am late,
But you would never say,
I'm going down,
And you would never stop,
Searching lost and found." —From 'Never Change' by Tyler Joseph
