Chapter 20

Don't play the song until I tell you!!!

I submerge into the deathly cold water. The water seems to completely numb my whole body. But I'm not thinking about how the water makes me feel like I'm taking a bath in snow. No I'm thinking about what I'm going to do to Jake.

I stay submerged in the water to seem like I'm drowning. My eyes are shut and my arms are lazily hanging hanging at my sides. I stay like that for a while, until I feel arms wrapping around my waist. I'm dragged a little farther. Then the arms move so they can pick me up bridal style. Soon I'm being picked up and taken out of the water and carefully placed on the sand.

So much for not getting sand in my hair.

"Sophy," The only person who calls me that is Jake so I know I fooled him, but I'm having so much fun so I think I'm going to go along with the plan for a little longer. "Sophy?" His voice only came out in whisper. I'm still holding my breath so I'm thinking that this prank is about to end because I need oxygen.

I feel movement beside me and the I feel Jake hover over me so his hair tickles my nose. OMIGOD IS HE GOING TO DO MOUTH TO MOUTH! Sweet cheesus this needs to end soon. His fingers lightly move my head back then his other hand pinches my nose. I feel his head moving closer to mine and my eyes fly open. Apparently he saw my eyes open because he lets go of my nose and his eyes meet mine. All of the other emotions going through his eyes are wiped away and he just sees me. Like looks into my eyes and just sees me. His eyes flicker to my lips and to be honest my eyes flicker to his. Soon are lips connect and my eyes closed. Everything is gone and it's just us and our lips moving in sinc. My whole body comes alive and I'm suddenly wanting more. I want more of him. His hand makes its way to the small of my back pulling me closer to him, so I can feel his chest against mine. While the other hand caresses my cheek.

"Well, well well, what do we have here,"

We jump apart and look at the person. I see Zach and Brady standing in front of us. Zach has his hands on his hips and his foot is tapping on the stand. Brady is just smirking. My face starts to heat up and I look down putting my swollen lips in my mouth so they can't see.

"Hey guys," Ava says breathless sounding like she's been running. "

Don't worry Ava we found them..............SMOOCHING!" Zach yells the last part his voice is high and squeaky. His voice makes me look up.

"Shit," Ava mumbles.

"Hahahahaha Ava you owe me 50 bucks. My head swivels to Jake with a blank look on my face. Jake looks back at me with the same look. Both of our heads turn back to them. Ava is pouting and looking at the ground.. While Zach is doing a happy dance around her. I stand up and wipe the sand off my thighs. I see Emma storming over here. This is probably the first time I've seen her mad.

"Ava why did you just run away mid sentence."Emma asks a scowl on her face.

"I saw Brady and Zach and I wanted to see if they had found Jake and Soph yet," Ava states.

"Did you have to leave in the middle of a conversation," Ava nods and continues pouting. "Guess what Em we won the bet. Her face brightens, she looks at me and Jake and then back to Zach.

Suddenly Emma sequels and throws her arms around Zach's neck. He stumbles back from the sudden force, but quickly recovers and wraps his arms around her waist. Brady pulls Ava into an embrace and rubs her back while his chin rests on the top of her head. Jake and I stand there awkwardly. My lips are still tingling from his touch and I'm afraid that if our friends weren't here right now I would smash my lips against his again. Jake takes a deep breath like he is about to say something, but he gets interrupted. "Hey guys I'm ready to go home," Jason says walking up to us soaking wet. I nod and go get my stuff. I roll up my towel and stuff it in the lime green bag and swing it over my shoulder sliding on my Ray Bans as I do so. All of the group has already started to walk to the cars. Which means I have to run to catch up to them.

"Thanks for leaving me guys." I say annoyed

"you're very very welcome," Ava says a sickly sweet smile on her face. I huff and move the strap of the bag back on my shoulder. It fell while I was running.

See running never has a good outcome.

We walk in silence for a while and it's killing me. I hate the silence. Because It's always silent before the killer come out in horror movies. I glance down to look at the sand for a minute and when I look up I see a boy standing get right in front of me.

He's cute. nothing compared to Jake. He looks about 16.

"Hi! I'm Nick and I was wondering if I could get your number." Nick says with a goofy grin. I see Jake and Jason take a step closer to me. Simultaneously. What I do next even surprises me.

"Sure! Do you have a pen and paper."I say . He looks surprised for a minute before pulling a pen and a little strip of paper out of his back pocket. He hands them to me with shakey hands. I use my hand as a hard surface and write the numbers down. I hand them back over to him. I move forward and kiss him on the cheek and ruffle his hair. He blushes, like hard core blushes. I walk off a little bit the group right beside me. I look back over my shoulder and send him a wink.

"Did you really give some stranger your number," Jason asks in disbelief.

"No, I gave some stranger Jake's number." I say gesturing to Jake. Jake gives me a deadpan look and stomps off to the cars. I do a breathy laugh and continue to walk.

The whole car ride home I think of Jake, the kiss and our friendship.

The first few days Jake was really moody and intimidating, now he's more friendly and goofy. I mean he still has a mood swing every once in a while, but he seems like he trusts us more now that we got to know each other. I think back to the time at dinner with him and his mom. Of course he said some really mean stuff to me, but he said sorry and it seemed like he really meant it. Jake also had a major mood swing at Chunky E Cheese when that kid poured coke on his hair, but later that evening he didn't even talk about it he just kinda forgot it ever happened. He is just so unpredictable.

Will he forget the kiss ever happened, or will he say he regretted it.

"Soph get out I need to get home sometime in the next century," Ava says. I look out the window and I notice we pulled up in to my driveway. I was too caught up in my thoughts to notice.

"Thanks," I breath out and climb out of the car.

I walk straight into my room and take a shower washing all of the sand and sea salt out of my hair. Thanks to Jake.

Once I get out of the shower I throw on some black booty shorts, hey don't judge it is hot outside and I don't plan on going out anytime soon. Well anyway I throw those on and and a neon pink tank top. I take my phone off the charger and go through all my messages and social media till I end up watching netflix.

"Gosh dang Dj just pick Matt already!!" I shout at my phone. If you haven't already guessed what I am watching. It's Fuller House.

"Matt is so cute why wouldn't yo-" My rant is cut off by the doorbell chiming. I pause the show and run down the stairs. I open the door with a smile. Well I smile until I see who it is..
