A party was set for Thursday night and I decided to go. Once the day got here I went to the South lake Mall. By me having my own car Chill and Noni wanted to come too. So I went to Miller to pick up Noni, then Kentucky street to pick up Chill.
Noni looked like a church nun in all that clothing. I couldn't figure out for the life of me, why she would leave out of the house like that. She hopped in the front seat.
" What in the world do you have on," I snickered.
" An outfit! Just stick to driving." I put my hands up in defeat. I couldn't stop the laughter from escaping my lips. Noni shoved me when I stopped at a red light.
" I mean come on you look like that fish that we all make jokes about! You know you remember," I teased.
" Don't you dare repeat it," she snapped.
" Ok.ok. What do you call a nun in a wheel chair."
" Nope I don't care!"
" A Virgin mobile!" I couldn't help it. She tried to hide her smile. I burst into laughter unable to control myself.
Ten minutes later we picked up Chill. Chill always dressed up to date. The newest clothes, shoes, even hair styles. She jumped in the back seat. We headed to the mall where I tried on ten different outfits. Noni had went off somewhere and Chill wasn't much help. I snapped a picture and sent it to Ailani and Jamie.
Even though they were in the middle of a feud I still needed help with what to wear. Both of them replied back rather slowly. Jamie said the third silk blue dress I had tried on. While Ailani said the sixth violet dress I tried on. Thanks a lot that's a big help. Now I still need to choose between the two.
Noni came into the story and I waved her over.
" I need your help. I texted Jamie and Ailani, but of course they gave me two different opinions."
" I don't understand the big deal over shopping." I looked her up and down.
" Clearly," I snickered.
" What was that?"
" Oh nothing. Just tell me which one."
" Well why not get the purple it has a touch of black in it and I like black."
" Alright the purple one it is."
I raced to the store that had the purple dress in it. I was working a part time job at my aunt's restaurant so there was no problem paying it off. People think I'm the maturest of the group, but that's the biggest sham of all.
Not to long after I got the dress we all went to the hair salon. Maintaining my hair was the biggest problem of them all. It was like trying to tame a loin. Or something more unrealistic. The hair dresser put it into a braided mohawk, with light brown streaks.
We all got in the car. Chill and Noni wanted to go to the party, but not knowing how crazy it could get I told them no. I dropped them off and then headed to the party. My phone buzzed. As soon as I got to a stop light a searched everywhere for it. Once I got it from under my seat it stopped ringing.
Not even a second later it rings again. I answered it.
"Yes Ailani."
" Hey, haha." I looked at my phone and then put my ear back to it.
" Umm.. Ailani you ok?"
" Yes, I'm fine. Danny just told me a really hilarious joke." I pulled the car over and sat up in my seat.
" Hold on, your with Danny right now?"
" Yes, is that a bad thing," she chuckles.
" No, actually that's amazing. I'm glad he makes you happy."
" You know I was going to chew you up and spit you out about it. But then I actually enjoyed the kiss."
" I'm sorry, the what now!"
" Yes, Myah. That shouldn't be that big of a surprise to you."
" Well Ailani you should know.."
" Hey Myah I'm going to have to call you back I'm losing signal."
" But..." Before I could tell her the line went dead. I actually had been holding it back from her, that he was twenty-five. After their first date I didn't think she would ever want to speak to him again. Clearly I was wrong. I'll just have to tell when the time is right.
I got out the car and walked down the street to the block part. Sense Ben liked to throw parties I wanted to find out the real reason he throw Issa to the corner. Having one of the highest Gpa's at our school he should know better when it comes to Myah Webb!
The block was packed with people from school. I didn't understand the point of throwing a block party on a school night, but then again this is like their tenth time doing it this month so, can't really say anything now. I pushed through several people before I got up to Ben's house.
Once inside I looked everywhere for that boy. I got a couple of compliments on my hair which kept throwing me off track. The living room was in the back of the house so that's where I went to look. Sure enough he was sitting in between two girls. I had never seen them at school before and they were half clothed.
Although the more I looked at the one on the left she looked mighty familiar. Her hair was dark. Her face chubby. Her skin the nice complexion of a dark brown. She reminded me of Jennifer. She use to go to our school, but she dropped out and..... oh my god! It is her. She became a stripper! I walked up to them at a fast pace.
" Hey Ben! How you doing! That's good to hear." Before he was able to say anything pulled him from in between the two girls.
" Hey what are you doing. Do I know you?"
" You would if you weren't so busy only trying to know the higher-ups in society. Anyway I'm here for the truth."
" What are you talking.... oh I get it. I see you hanging out with Jamie all the time. If you want the truth here's the truth, I dumped Issa for Jamie, but then Jamie told me no. And some how now their the bestest of friends, soooo that leaves me lonely, I guess. "
I looked past him at the strippers. I point to them.
" You call A raging block party, with strippers lonely, then I'd like to see what not being lonely looks like."
Ben goes back to sit with the girls. I would love to say I believe him, but something was still off. I had a gut feeling that never left. It bothered me so bad. I needed to let it go. I had I couple of drinks. I down them like there's no tomorrow. I didn't even care what they were. Most of them tasted like eighteen hundred anyway.
This year for some reason was coming out to be the weirdest. Jamie and Ailani needed to get back together, because we were all slipping away from one another. Mellow was always disappearing now and these days and life at home wasn't so good either. We all needed each other to hold one another up. Noni and Chill wouldn't be much help. It was just to complicated. I don't think it'll get any easier. Only time will tell.
