Dan returned home to Cat with a bottle of cough syrup and a smile.
'Why so happy?' Cat asked, curiously.
'The doctor is absolutely gorgeous!' Dan replied.
'Oh yeh?' Cat said, extremely awkwardly.
Dan just stared in surprise at Cat. Why had she suddenly gone all hostile?
'Yeh! The doctor seemed to like me too!' Dan said, attempting to lighten the mood, 'Recommended two appointments, weekly.'
'Are you sure you need that many?' Cat asked, not taking her eyes off her magazine.
'Any excuse to see Doctor Lester!' Dan replied, then walked towards his bedroom. He couldn't wait for Saturday, he wanted so badly to see Phil again. Finally, Saturday arrived and Dan set off at quarter to three, knowing well enough that it took less that five minutes to walk to the office.
'Bye, Cat! I'll be back soon!' He shouted, and got no reply.
Oh well, he thought. He practically ran across the street, so excited to see the doctor again. When he arrived at the office, he strode straight up to the receptionist and said 'Dan Howell, here to see Doctor Lester!'
'Dan, you're thirteen minutes early. Lucky for you, the doctor is getting through his patients quite quickly. Just take a seat in the waiting room.'
'Thank you!' Dan said, then turned around and strolled over to the waiting room. It was busier than it was last time. Quite a few more people. So, he remained standing, eyes fixed on Phil's office door.Five minutes later, Phil emerged.
'Cassidy?' He shouted into the waiting area. 'Cassidy Smithfield?'
No one replied, so he turned and headed back inside his office. It may have been Dan's imagination, but he could have sworn that he saw the doctor wink at him before returning to his desk. Less than a minute later, he re-emerged and locked eyes with Dan.
'Dan Howell?' he said.
Dan smiled and stopped leaning against the wall, then pursued Phil. When they were both sat down in the office, Phil asked how Dan was.
'Is the cough syrup making a difference?' He asked, seriously.
'I think so,' Dan replied, 'I feel like I'm coughing less now.' The truth was, Dan had stopped coughing all together, but he would never tell Doctor Lester that for fear that he would rethink the regular appointments.
'Okay, that's an improvement.' Phil said, 'Let me do a couple of checks.'
He got up from his chair and again made his way over to the stethoscope drawer. This time, Phil looked for longer. His arse was up in the air and all Dan wanted to do was grab it. He considered doing so but decided against it when Phil finally found the stethoscope. Again, Phil was pressing cold metal against Dan's chest, listening to his heart beat as his chest rose and fell. After Phil had gone through all the cursory procedures, he leaned forward into Dan.
'So, Dan, how are you really doing? I know that your cough has gone. Do you just enjoy my company?'
Dan blushed a deep pink colour.
'I guess so,' he replied guiltily.
Phil stared into Dan's eyes for quite a while, giving Dan time to admire just how blue Phil's eyes were. He wouldn't be surprised if they held the entire Pacific Ocean. After a few more seconds of intense staring, Phil leaned in and brushed his lips against Dan's. The sensation was amazing. Phil's lips were so soft and they fit perfectly against Dan's. He felt the doctor slip a hand up his thigh and draw circles on the material. Dan opened his eyes for a second to glance down at the hand. On Phil's ring finger was a simple, gold ring that wasn't there last time. Dan pulled back immediately, staring questioningly at the jewellery.
'Are you married?' He asked. Phil's hesitation was obvious. 'You weren't wearing this yesterday.' Dan continued, gesturing to the ring.
'It's complicated...' Phil replied quietly. Dan was unsure of what to say. He really fancied the doctor with his piercing blue eyes, effortlessly smooth black hair and absolutely gorgeous body. But he was married? Yesterday the ring was nowhere to be seen. But now, here it was in plain sight. Although Dan was enjoying the feeling of Doctor Lester running his hands up Dan's thighs, he didn't want to be the victim of some careless affair, so he stood up, causing Phil to back away slightly.
'Dan, listen,' Phil began. 'My wife and I are seriously unhappy. She cheats on me all the time. We've filed for a divorce and everything.'
'I'm not going to be some person you hook up with to get back at your wife!' Dan replied sternly. Phil looked shocked at Dan's sudden outburst.
'No! You're far from it, Dan. I really like you.' He replied guiltily. 'Look, I got married when I was eighteen and thought I'd met the love of my life. Now here I am, twenty three, and wishing I had thought things through a bit more. I'm not going to use you, Dan.' and with that, Phil moved closer so that the two boys were chest to chest, and placed a soft kiss on Dan's lips. Dan deepened the kiss and brought his hands to wrap around Phil's neck. The doctor then brought his hands to Dan's waist and gripped tightly, sure to cause slight bruising.
'You're amazing.' Phil whispered against Dan's lips, and they fell back onto the unstable bed that creaked at their every movement.
Phil glanced at his watch, seeing that Dan had been in his office for nearly half an hour. He pulled away in shock.
'Dan, oh my god, you've been in here for ages!' He said.
'Crap!' Dan replied. 'Okay, I've got to go, I'll see you on Tuesday.'
Dan turned to leave, followed by Phil who opened the door for him, placing a hand on Dan's arse to push him forward. Once Dan was outside, he realised that his hair was ridiculously tousled and tried to smooth it down quickly before exiting the building and walking back home.//
