The country passed by the window of Phil's car in stripes of gentle colour. An assortment of green hues merged together, contrasting the occasional burst of rose-red, and the white of plum tree flowers mixed in with the colourful scene in blooming elegance. Dan's head remained constantly craned to the right, mesmerised by the passing flowers and wanting to reach out and interrupt their constant flow. So, while the wind pushed against his outstretched arm, Dan extended a hand towards the blossoms.

Phil watched inattentively from the corner of his eye as the younger's fingers grasped fruitlessly for the overhanging petals. Their beauty was so capturing that they seemed to tease Dan's reaching hand, before receding to the trees from which they fell. At this, Phil watched the brunette's face fall, before igniting again, sparks flying in his eyes, as the flowers grew closer. They reached for Dan as Dan reached for their iridescent petals, fingertips hoping to brush just once.

So the journey to Phil's place was spent in comfortable silence, the older of the two occasionally catching Dan's idle hands toying with the hem of the doctor's shirt. Their little country affair was soon lost to the buildings that swallowed up gentle trees and the pebbles that were strewn across the road soon ran smooth until they were nothing more than familiar city tarmac. Their turbulent journey from the picturesque cliff edge came to a gradual end and soon the car rolled into the doctor's garage.

"This is it," Phil said with a sigh before exiting the car and walking around to open the brunette's door.
"Nice," Dan observed, staring at the house which was significantly smaller than those that decorated the inner city.
"It's small, I know," Phil began, "It's got one bedroom, one bathroom as well as a kitchen an possibly the smallest garden you'll have ever see-"
"I like it," Dan intervened, wrapping his arms around the doctor and leaning in to brush their lips together.
"I'm glad,"

Upon entering the house, Phil threw their coats across the small table that sat, staring out the pathetic excuse for a window, then took Dan towards the house's only bedroom, a journey which they covered in approximately seven steps. The door screeched in protest when Doctor Lester made a feeble attempt to shove his way through, but finally the door opened to reveal a bed that occupied the majority of the space.
"I'll sleep on the armchair in the um... well, you can't exactly call it a living room-"
But, again, Phil's aimless babbling was interrupted by the brown haired boy in front of him.
"Don't be ridiculous, we'll share the bed," He said with a glowing smile.

They lay, separated by a wall of unexpected awkwardness, in a bed underneath a dark, bare light bulb and to the right of a small window overlooking a monotonous red fence. They remained silent and separate, facing away from each other to avoid eye contact. But, when Dan was eventually claimed by sleep, he rolled slowly and sought comfort in the way that, finally, he could tuck himself into he doctor's side. Phil, who remained untouched by sleepiness, took this opportunity to pull Dan even closer to his side and feel the tickle of the younger's breath as it hit his chest.
