Cat's fist struck hard against the corner of Dan's lips, and pain erupted from the blow like a wild spark of electricity that coursed throughout Dan's face. He instinctively raised his hands up to his mouth, then pulled them away to reveal that his fingers were spotted with droplets of crimson blood. Cat, however, showed no hint of mercy. Her brown eyes were ablaze, flickering in anger like the beginnings of an uncontrollable fire.

Phil found his feet glued to the floor as he watched the scene play out. He merely observed as Cat's fist connected with Dan's lips. He stayed frozen as droplets of blood began to gather on Dan's raised fingers. His heavy breathing had even ceased for fear of Cat's next merciless move. Dan has never looked more broken. The tears that streamed down his cheeks came from bloodshot eyes, and glistened against skin that was drowned in a startling pallor. Blood had begun to seep in between the brunette's swollen and chapped lips.

Chocolate brown eyes glistened in fear as Cat, once again, raised a single, threatening hand. However, instead of bringing it down hard against Dan's tear soaked cheeks, she grabbed the exposed flesh of Dan's shoulder. As Cat's nails sunk into his skin, he swore they did so with an unbearable burning sensation. Dan began to writhe beneath Cat's unforgiving clutch, but he found himself unable to escape the hands that caused fire to dance across his skin.

"You're disgusting," Cat hissed into Dan's ear, and her voice held a disturbing malice that embedded itself deep in Dan's mind. "You're despicable and I hate you. I hate you for all of the shit you've put me through!"
A whimper escaped from between Dan's lips, and Phil was finally released from his fear-induced paralysis.
"Cat" He yelled, and his voice resonated throughout the tiny living room, holding so much authority that Cat visibly hesitated in her relentless abuse of Dan.

Phil was across the room in two short strides, before he grabbed a fistful of Cat's hair and wrenched her away from the couch. Her nails dislodged themselves from Dan's shoulder with a stinging pain that shot down the boy's arm, and his breath hitched at the feeling.
"Get out of here," Dan could hear Phil scream, "Don't even fucking try to come back, because, next time, I might not be able to stop myself from properly slamming your face into the wall!" He spat the last words out before shoving a distraught Cat out of the door and swinging it shut without a second glance her way.

Heavy footsteps indicated that Phil was returning to the couch, where Dan was shaking and gulping down breaths.
"Dan," Phil whispered, soft as ever, but he couldn't finish his sentence for the complete devastation that quickly overtook his body.
He pulled the younger into his lap, wrapping his arms around his waist and squeezing in an attempt to somewhat comfort Dan, or at least stem the tears that cascaded endlessly down his flushed cheeks.
