Chapter 28

"Oh my Gosh that's so cute!" Anna screamed nearly breaking my eardrum.
"Inside voice Belle." I said looking back to the mirror.
"My bad." She said giggling, "But you do look gorgeous." She sobered up and looked me up and down. I was currently getting ready for my date with Asher. It was the day before Christmas Eve now and my rib was nearly good as new. The snow still fell steadily but small enough not to block us in and we were still able to do bonfires with the dry wood from Asher's family's barn.
To say I was nervous for this date was an understatement. Honestly my stomach was in a hundred different kinds of knots. The day he asked me I was shaking with excitement but now I as panicking. Even though we had been living together for a whole month it was different going on a date with him.
I looked in the mirror at what Anna chose for me to wear. It was simple, warm, but form fitting and kind of sexy. I wore a dark blue pair of boot cut jeans that fit my body perfectly, a white tank top under a tight knit cream-colored sweater that fit to my figure and a brown leather jacket with my cowgirl boots. I had put my hair up in a tight ponytail, but Anna nearly ripped the hair out of my head yanking the hair tie out. Some mumbling came afterwards about Asher's preference and awing him. I let it go and now it fell in long black waves to my lower back.
"Okay, I think I'm ready." I said.
"No, you're not." Anna said, and I turned to her. She held a make-up bag in hand and my eyes widened in horror.
"No." I whispered in fear. She smiled evilly.
"Oh yes." She said coming after me at full speed.
"Neveeerrrr!" I screamed running away from her as she tried to chase me down.
"Get over here and let me paint your face!"
"That way of phrasing it doesn't make me feel any better!"
"You'll be fine! I think."
"Think before speaking!" I said dodging her around the bed.
"If I can paint a nearly exact replica of The Starry Night, I can put your make-up on."
I paused, "Really?"
"No." she said pushing me onto the bed and jumping onto my legs, away from my rib still.
"Sucker." She cackled, dabbing her make-up brush with a hunk of black eyeshadow.
"No, no. Get away from m-"
"Girls, are you ok-Anna, off!" Mrs. Tyler entered the room only to grab Anna by the ear and pull here off me, scolding her in the corner.
"You okay Hun?" My mom asked coming into the room and helping me up.
"Oh, I'm just dandy, trying to protect myself from this little gremlin, otherwise known as the spawn of Satan, found in the dark depths of Hell." I said. Mrs. Tyler and my mom looked at me. Then started laughing so hard my mom fell over and Mrs. Tyler was snorting.
"Wow." Anna said, finally sobering up and stepping over to me.
"Do you guys know how to do make-up?" She asked. Mrs. Tyler nodded, and my mom finally stood straight wiping the tears from her eyes.
"Yes, Sweetie, we know how to do make-up. Sit down." I listened and sat down letting them do what they wanted. I knew my mom wouldn't turn me into a clown like Anna wanted to. At least I hoped not.
A.
"Dude! Stop pacing, you're giving me anxiety just looking at you!" Axel snapped from his place on the couch. Riley sat next to Axel poking at him softly. Daniel sat on the other end about to fall asleep.
"I can't help it. You know how I feel about her!" I said slamming down onto the love seat next to the couch.
"Breathe, you'll be fine, you hung out with her for weeks. Not much different." Daniel said.
"That is a whole lot different situation from now. This is a date...intimate, not just friendly."
"Agreed." Axel nodded, "But she said yes, so she obviously likes you back, so calm down." I paused in my pacing and took a deep breath.
"You're right. It'll be perfectly fine." I said nodding to myself.
"Entering, the beautiful Madeline!" our heads shot up to where Anna stood at the bottom of the staircase, acting like a model presenter. I rolled my eyes at her but still focused on the legs that slowly become body. Then face.
"Wow." I heard come from behind me on the couch, but I ignored them. My sole focus was on the beautiful woman in front of me. She wasn't wearing anything revealing, nor did she show any major skin, but I had never been more attracted to a woman ever before as much as I was to her in this moment. A simple knit sweater, jeans, form fitting and slender, her boots, hair flowing freely all around her shoulders. She wore make-up too, and though I usually was not a fan of it, this was different. It was enhancing natural colors, not smothering and light, rather than heavy. It did everything that I assumed it was meant to do. And I was in shock.
I watched as her cheeks turned red and her gray eyes sparkled an almost light blue.
"What? Does it look weird?" she asked. I shook my head and held out my hand. She took it and that's when I felt her hand shake just the slightest. She was nervous too. That made me feel a little bit better about my nervousness.
"Ready?" I asked. She nodded and, hand in hand we started our way out the door.
"Remember kids-"
"Mom, don't you dare." I cut my mom off.
"What? I was just gunna say safety first. I don't want grandkids yet." Madeline choked on the air and I hung my head.
"Oh my God! Bye!" I choked out and turned feeling my cheeks heating up with the embarrassment. My mom new I was still a virgin and not a man based on sexual intentions. She just said that to embarrass me and it worked. And she said it in front of Mrs. Reed. Madeline was laughing as I dragged her from the house to the already warmed up pick up. I opened the door for her and let her get in before gently closing the door. I jogged around to my side and went to open my door when I heard a shuffling sound coming from the forest edge. I looked over and saw a shadow move. Confused, I took a step towards it when Madeline's voice called my name.
"What's wrong Ash?" she asked, and I turned towards her.
"Nothing, just an animal probably." I said shaking my head, trying to keep the shaky feeling in had away. I took one last look behind us but saw nothing. Turning I hopped in the truck and looked over to Madeline. She was so beautiful. She looked down.
"What?" she asked, cheeks reddening slightly. I reached over and grabbed her hand. I brought it to my lips and kissed it gently.
"Beautiful." I said, before putting the truck in gear and heading to our destination, still thinking about that nagging feeling from moments before.
